While it is booked as AZ, it is operated by a non-Skyteam airline - hence it does not qualify.

Also, does NW still have that stupid rule where you get no miles for tickets purchased on Cheaptickets.com ??
And lastly, do you think it'll be a problem if I ditch the last Air Canada EWR-YYZ segment?

And also, how strictly does Alitalia enforce rules about throwaway segments invalidating the whole ticket? i.e., if I wanted to stay in Italy, and throwaway my Larnaca segments, could I fly back anyway on the existing ticket? I mean, what if I get "sick" at Milan airport or something and have to go to the doctor?

If I wanted to be a huge gambler and try something like that, then at least I'd make sure that I have a stopover in Italy on the YYZ to Cyprus ticket.
It's safer to do a one day at your destination and then a stopover in Milan on your return back to North America.
