From a reliable source on the YSSY messgaeboard (Mr Chittock)

"Just an update re the Qantas Premium Economy class product for those that may be interested.

As you would already know, the first aircraft with the new F/J/W/Y config will be online during FEB08.

Qantas Premium Economy class fares and seat inventory will be released for sale by the end of NOV07 for travel APR08 onwards.

There will be B744 aircraft operating during FEB/MAR period with the new config, but W class will be sold as Y. IE some lucky Y pax (say high tier frequent flyers) will get to travel in Premium Economy seats (Y service) with no extra fare payable – much like when the Skybed’s were introduced before they increased the J airfares. The aircraft schedules will change, so it will be very much luck of the draw if one gets the right a/c at the right time!

With regards to booking classes, QF will follow BA’s booking hierarchy using W class for full fare Premium Economy, T class for discount Premium Economy and Z class for frequent flyer Premium Economy redemption bookings.

The existing W class (Economy Flexi Saver domestic fares) were withdrawn back in August for travel 01JAN08 onwards. These fares are now booked in B class.

QF First class redemption bookings will now be booked in P class. T class which was used for Gold/Platinum redemption bookings will be allocated a subclass of X class

BA will increase their World Traveller Plus fares tomorrow – T class fares are increasing on average by 12% and W class will increase on average by 24%. QF Premium Economy fares will be aligned with BA World Traveller Plus fares."
