Things to do and see in Melbourne Part 2

Watch this space:

Between now and May 07 we will add things to do and see in Melbourne & in Victoria. If anyone posts something to do and see will copy it into this post

Restaurants:
There are several streets know for restaurants in Melbourne. From fine dining to casual meals, Melbourne has a very diverse range of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.

Federation Square at Flinders St - Swanson St on the Yarra River (city) opposite Flinders St train station. Bars and several styles of food.

The Southbank promenade along the Yarra River is one of Melbourne’s most popular dining precincts, with its riverside setting and views of the city skyline. The promenade has a broad range of cafes and restaurants all the way from the Southgate complex to the Crown Casino – many with outdoor terraces and balconies where you can dine alfresco and watch street performers and passing pedestrians, while taking in the views of the cityscape as it lights up at night.

Chinatown along Little Bourke St and side alleys link the area to Bourke St and Lonsdale St. Many Chinese and other Asian style restaurants.

Lygon St Carlton:- casual Italian restaurants north of the city centre. The restaurant precinct starts at 1 Lygon St and extends through to about No. 340 or so, and there are about 100 places to eat from. Take a taxi or tram, as its too far to walk from the city centre

Chapel St Prahran:- Restaurants & up market shopping south east of the city centre. Take a taxi, train or tram as its too far to walk from the city centre .

The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant A little touristy, but an unique way to have a meal and see some of the city and suburbs (Prahran, Armadale, Malvern, St Kilda, Middle Park and South Melbourne) at night from a 1930's tram. The food is good and all drinks are included in the price.
