We stayed at the Courtyard Riverview last year and won't return. We booked a water view king room months in advance and noted that we would be arriving late (about 8:00 p.m.), but they gave our room away and bumped us to a 2-double-bed room with no "view." For some reason, they still wanted to charge us for the upgraded room, and it took an unreasonable amount of time to talk them out of it.
As you can see from the website, the building is rather attractive for a Courtyard. The "water view," OTOH, is just a view of an unremarkable harbor, since the hotel is wedged between two bridges over the Ashley. The location is relatively isolated, and it takes forever to get a cab, but that probably says more about Charleston than it does about the property.
When we return to Charleston, we'll be staying at the Ren.
