I recieved a letter from SAS Eurobonus saying they would "upgrade" 15000 of my extra points to basic points, meaning that I only needed 7525 basic points to become a goldmember...
Now i have to do this before dec. 31 and I will leave on the 30th coming back on the 31st. using swiss business offer (around 3500dkk to most european distinations)
According to MM mileage calculator that would give me 8000 points (2000points for each of the 4 international segments)
would it also give me 8000 eurobonus points???
sorry if its a stupid question, I just want to be completely sure before i book....
I had booked one of these J swiss offers. When I got my e-ticket I saw that the fare basis was TXXXXXX. It did mention that I flew in Business, but nowhere could I see the specific Business class booking class. Usually the booking code is the same as the begining of the farebasis, i.e. in my case T.
I would not risk to spend money on a mileage run, and not getting any C points. I thought, that if the points did not register normally, I had to go through retro - and I assume they will use the fare basis as baseline... As I did not have any paper indicating I had booked in a Business class farebasis, I ended up cancelling the ticket within the 24 hour deadline.
I don't know if I would be getting full business class points - or not!!- I just saw a potential risk and was not prepared to accept that.
I hope I was just too pesimistic...
BTW the points will show up a couple of days late - I don't know if that will give you trouble in renewing your status, as they will set your basispoint to 0 on January 1st...? - Someone else may elaborate on that.
No, LX in business class gives only 1200 EB point. You can not use the M&M calculator when using EB. Try to search the LX forum for further details on the special J offer - you will see that you are in fact earning miles/points for bus. class.
I flew CDG ZRH ATH last year on LX J and got 1200 + 2200 points. You are booked in J class but the fare basis is T*******, that is the business upgrade. But you do get J points.
I'm in the same situation, taking advantage of Swiss J and weekends in January for a chance at Gold. (Someone outside FT would probably consider us insane and easily fooled, since we are in fact doing exactly what the airlines want us to do: spending money on tickets we don't need. )
As I understand it, you get max{1200,2*((ceil(distance/100))*100)} one-way
so I shouldnt count on getting more than 1200 pr segment, totalling 4800 points, which isnt quite enough hmm...
I could go for Istanbul or such and then maybe get 2000 for 2 of the segments and then totalling 6600, but then still missing around a 1000 points... hmm
