Bad news: United (UA) earning chart updated

Here are the new earnings chart for UA on Eurobonus:

First/Business:
F, J, C, D (150%)
A, Z, P (100%)

Economy:
Y, B, M, E, U, H (100%)

Economy low:
Q, V, W (75%)
S, T, L, K (50%)
G, N (0%)

Source https://www.flysas.com/en/eurobonus/...d/?NSSEXC=true

SAS/Eurobonus already said on phone that they will not give out points according to the information available for booking made before feb 19. I booked on January 31 with travel 20APR-27APR on UA and my earning is cut 50%. SAS blamed United and said there was nothing they could do. Had I known this at the time of the booking I certainly would NOT have booked UA as there was better options.

Seriously, 10 days warning? Unprofessional.

This is how it looked 5 days ago:

Not sure how he managed to create an empty thread but here we go:

https://www.flysas.com/en/eurobonus/...rlines/united/
For flights after March 1st 2015:

First & Business (was 200% before)
F, J, C, D (150%)
A, Z, P (100%)
Economy (unchanged)
Y, B, M, E, U, H (100%)
Economy Low (was 100% before):
Q, V, W (75%)
S, T, L, K (50%)

Pretty steep cut. Was just about to book a UA P fare, will now go for LH, LX or OS. Same mileage earning, better service. Perhaps even AC? Any experience in the new C on their 787, nice service?

Seems I was flagged for spam.

Many people with active bookings will get majorly screwed by this.

Ouch. I seriously considered booking a trip to Santiago de Chile with them. Will do so on AC now.

From a point of view it's understandable. Or.. 'expected' is the better word here. Earnings on long haul were now better on UA than SK, where the 'incentive' for a bonus program always should be to promote the own product first.

That's what i wrote to them.

Hello
I can see you have adjusted the earning for members of the Eurobonus program. What strikes me is the earnings is devaluated regardless of time the booking is made?
Mine was booked and confirmed on jan 19.

The reason I am writing is, that I have booked a trip to Honolulu and back all in booking class (P) which at the time of booking gave 200% bonus points. From the 1 of March that same booking will give 100% bonus points. I get that you have to adjust your program, but why is it that all bookings made before the changed are accumulating the same amount of miles/points as if I made a booking now? How is that fair in any way?

Another reason not to fly United when crediting miles to EuroBonus...

Do you have any good reason to believe that earnings on AC will not change as well, sooner rather than later?

Two things make me now choose AC. First of all, the price is lower while the amount of points is the same with the new UA earnings. Second, I like AC much better than UA in hard and soft product.

Anyway, this trip will e for November, so still lots of time to think and choose.

Or maybe I should try to find a combination with LH and AV...

This really illustrates the power of frequent flyer programs. AC is cheaper and you like their hard and soft product much better than UA's but would still have chosen UA if they gave you more miles.

Agreed, there is some power of the program. Although we're talking about 200NOK difference (the almost 10.000 miles extra are worth much, much more) and their flight schedule is much worse. So it's not only the program, but it absolutely plays a role in the decision making process.
