The schedule actually links SFO, NRT and PVG together using four aircrafts and since they are upgrading at least four A340s its most likely that those destinations will see the refurbished cabins first...

SK925 will transfer to A330 equipment from September 10th. ^

According to SK's own website linked in post 191, only 3 A340 are in queue for a cabin refurbishment. If you have a better source, it would only be happy news.

It can't take that long to do the three A340's, surely? So they should be complete by December 2015 right? When do we expect these to be done? If they are already expecting it in NRT sometime soon?

SK advertising in Japan says from November on 983/984. So by then I guess that the 3 birds will be in action and only occasional subbing will have the old cabin.

It takes just over a month per plane, so they should indeed be done by December 2015. We haven't seen OY-KBA depart for Zurich yet so the process hasn't started.

That is linked to the in-flight magazine, ie. not a very good source There aren't any official announcement (yet) about the refurbishment other than the fleet will grow to 16 aircrafts by next year which implies that seven A340s will be upgraded.

A340 refurbishment starts September 26th (when SK901/902 ends for the season). ^

I don't know if I'm being silly but isn't SK901/2 been operated by the non SAS interior aircraft (LAN). That one getting a refurb then? Also on the NRT route, although they're advertising it, it doesn't mean that all the flights will be operated by a refurb aircraft, they could just be saying it although it only be some of the flights per week, not all of them. Seems like you'd think they would do a fleetwide refurb not just three surely?

I'm booked on SK902 next May and the seat map is old SK A340. Not new SK but also not the ex-LAN machine. Anyway, that's probably subject to change. Being in C I don't care too much, the ex-LAN bird is quite ok in C if you get the window plus aisle seated right or left

This is the subsection of the Electronic version of the inflight magazine where SK updates on the upgrade. Which is as official as it gets currently. SK has from the outset said that not all A340s were to be upgraded. They did indeed indicate that they are intending to expand the fleet, i.e. retire the A340s slower. But if they did not indicate if the extra birds will be upgraded. But that will still not get you to all 7 if the extra are upgraded.

Im flying to ORD in a few days from CPH with a return flight late September. Every now and then I've checked the seat mapping on the flights and they have been back and forth between the old 2-2-2 business class and the new 1-2-1 configuration.

Much to my disappointment, when I checked just now, neither the outbound or return flight has a 1-2-1 seat map in business. So I guess I wont get to experience the new business class this time around.

Bummer.

Retrofitted plane or not?

I am flying with SK936 SFO-CPH (Oct 1), and SK935 return (Oct 19) is there any way to figure out if the planes servicing that route has been retrofitted, so it would be worth doing an OT upgrade?

Sure, you can always check the seat config by opening your booking on the SAS website. I'm pretty sure that in this case it's not a retrofitted one, as it's operated by A340 aircraft. Only A330s have been upgraded so far.

News in Q3 message

It would appear that there is some news in the Q3 message.

"The fifth upgraded long-haul aircraft with an entirely new cabin inte- rior will soon enter service and will be followed by three more aircraft in the period up to January. "

This would indicate that the total number to be upgraded is now 8 rather than previously 7.
