Still the above question remains. Anyone has a clue? Just curious, that's all.

Let me shoot wide: any anti-gambling regulations in Japan?

Yes, pretty strict anti gambling laws. And a massive loophole with pachinko. But officially you don't win anything of value in pachinko. Then there are a few exceptions in lottery, horse races and a few others

I doubt that OT would qualify to be gambling, and that is the reason.

This year's birthday present arrived today (a bit early). A nice set of two Royal Copenhagen tea mugs.

Looking forward to see if JAL Diamond (Oneworld Emerald) triggers something as well, or if SK is "ahead" of JL ;-)

Just noted I had been granted my first ever birthday present of 1000 points.

I do not know though if those points came in only after a qualifying flight or not. I neither got any letter or sign-up whatsoever

I received 1000 extra points birthday present in April when my qualifying period began, even though my birthday is in February. First time for me too.

I recieved "A happy birthday 1000 extra points" as well this year. A little late though as it appeared on my account two months after my birthday.

When I was SAS Gold I did not receive any gifts for my birthday from SAS. This year Czech Airlines offered me 3000 points for my birthday if I take a flight with them in the next 3 months. Currently I have with them only basic card.

About the 'little late' issue. Usually they will only credit the measly 1000 points only after your first flight on SK metal after your birthday plus a couple of weeks extra to run through the IT systems

I got the 1000 point sign up and fly birthday greeting as well, so it exists in Japan as despite the other gift. I got the mail on my actual birthday and had to fly within 3 months to get the points.
