AmEx gives out recruitment bonuses:

6k EB pts and 1st year free for new cardholder
12k EB pts for the recruiter
Only valid for recruiting new AmEx card holders. Not sure if this is new or even particularly exciting (is the 30k pts+1st year free offer still available somewhere?) but it's there. It's at least 1k EB pts better for the applicant than the standard 5k I see everywhere.
