Guidelines re: "Restaurants in San Francisco"

Hi all

There's been a bit of back-and-forth on some recent restaurant threads, which is prompting me to post a sticky. Here's some basic guidelines that might be helpful:

• if you're looking for restaurant suggestions, it's VERY helpful to list
- price range
- location preferences if any
- cuisine
- other parameters- kids, you'll have a car, a time constraint etc.

• Especially while search is not entirely functional, restos change all the time here so please don't castigate anyone for not searching.

• Conversely, there are a LOT of San Francisco restaurant threads, so feel free to search for some general recommendations before you list specifics.

• San Francisco is not a big city so even restaurants in outlying areas (The Sunset, the Richmond, the Mission etc) are a relatively short cab or public transit ride away. So don't be put off if posters recommend restaurants in their 'hoods - we have a vibrant neighborhood dining scene.

Thanks all - your ecommendations are always welcome!
