I rarely use mypoints as a shopping portal -- usually only for Office Depot every few months -- not much else.
I checked my online account statement and my average over the most recent 4 full weeks is 16 5-point offers per week. (Plus, of course, some survey mails, questionnaires, etc.)
Getting an email with the word ''bonus'' in it, then clicking through and finding I got no points for clicking through, only for buying something, leaves me feeling totally screwed. If they are not going to give points for clicking on the email, it should say something other than ''bonus''.
This past week, I've been checking the number of "BonusMail" offers that, after you open them and read them and go to the bottom to get your 5 points, instead say, in small print at the bottom:

You must order online to receive Points.
The percentage is now well over half -- nearly 75% by my figures.
If this is the new business model United is using to run MyPoints, I'm going to just start deleting the mail. I'll do surveys and stuff, and do some purchases (like ebay) on MyPoints until I get to the next redemption total (I'm about 1,000 points short) and then let the thing go dormant.
I'm reluctant to spend time reading ads for 5 points per, but investing the time for nothing is definitely out. I don't work that cheap.

UAL hasn't owned MyPoints in quite a while (like 3-4 years or so). They're owned by United Online, of NetZero/Juno dial-up ISP fame and it has nothing to do with United Airlines (just check the bottom of each MyPoints page and you'll see the other UOL companies, includding the infamous Classmates...).
In my experience, nowadays about 1/3 of the emails are NOT giving the 5 MyPoints for clicking, just check for the recieve 5 Points. The only other way to get 5 MyPoints is in some Newsletters that would tell you receive 5 Points for visiting ONE of our Sponsors. If neither is the case you'd NOT get ANY MyPoints for clicking, have to buy something through the link to get anything (if I see that kinda language I just delete the message in my inbox...).
Even with this you have to check out your balance (on Your Account) on the MyP webpage 'cause some sponsors don't honor the Points mentioned on the emails (I've had two such emails [from about 20] from Domino's Pizza and a nutritional supplement that didn't count at all...

The above is correct and the moderator ought to close this thread because the sky is not falling.
