From what I was reading on its website explanation... its a function of how much time elapsed since the last 'buck' was awarded... randomly calculated... so it might pay off to search late at night...
I don't understand how some people have gotten 100's of referrals from this though...
Another way to get bucks is thru codes... so if someone finds a swagcode (or whatever they are called) please post if it works, and everyone can take advantage of it. The website says 2/25 is its b-day and 5 codes will be given out... so might be some luck today

Please lets distinguish between swagcodes and searches.
OAR did not work for me as a swagcode.
To enter a swagcode, click on the big square that tells you how many swagbucks you have when you log in. This brings you to the My Account page. Then enter the code in the appropriate field on the right side of the page.

They're posting 'swagcodes' on their blog, twitter account, and facebook page.
They appear to only be valid for a certain number of redemptions though.
