just called and spoke to a rep...I live in FL and as soon as they took my address, they said someone would call me to over the info. I found it weird though that initially she said she would be asking me questions for 10-15 mins, then after I said, yeah that's fine, she asked my name/addy. After she found out i lived in FL, she said someone else would call me. Who knows.... will be patiently waiting though. I've done a bunch of studies in the past for Mayo Clinic both in Minnesota and Florida, and they are interesting to say the least. I did em in college to make some cash but of course it is good for the overall advancement of science.
hopefully I pass the initial screening too, I have no problem flying to NYC, but I am allergic to shellfish and sulfa. crossing my fingers.

Passed the initial physical today and have my overnight and France trips scheduled, assuming I pass. During the screening they gave me some "hints" about how to not fail, but they said that a significant number of folks (~70%) weren't making it past the overnight screening.

Also, they said in the screenings today that thanks to folks in past trips using cameras from their cell phones they now allow no cell phones on the trips, which sucks. No browsing FT all day long on my BB8830.
I just learned about this study and because I don't live in NY I wonder if it's worth it. It seems from reading the postings that people are not passing the sleep test. Anyone know what is required to pass and if you get compensation for at least that

Nope. VZW has a $65/month unlimited international data plan. Quite affordable, really, especially since I turn on the international the day before I leave and switch back to domestic-only when I get home.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!!
I don't have my sheet with the pay schedule with me, but it is something like $500-700 for making it through the full first day of in-house study and then the rest for making it through the France part. I would not do it at all if it requires out-of-pocket expenses to get to NYC and participate; I don't think it is worth it.
I'm in the facility this morning having slept here overnight. I should be finding out soon (I suppose) if I passed the overnight part of the sleep test. I was the only person here for the JetLag study last night so I have free reign over the one Internet-connected PC they have here. Should keep me entertained for a bit.

My initial visit was scheduled for 11/14 but they called and canceled
They were supposed to call me back to reschedule but didn't.
when i called back a few days later to see about rescheduling, it took close to an hour to get through only to hear that no one seemed to know when they would start up again. Then I was told they "were still waiting to hear from the sponsor"
i figured maybe the sponsor pulled the plug...guess i'll try em again tomorrow
Jet Lag Study: Travelers Needed for Flight to France
Thank you for your interest in the JET LAG STUDY. Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving and December holidays, the JET LAG STUDY will be taking a break now through December. We expect to resume recruitment for this study as well as flights to France in January.
Luckily, I came back and checked this thread before going up to NYC without a clue on December 5. I'm going to call and double check as I would rather not lose my spot in line. If it's true, thanks for the message!

I just got a call today that they overbooked my scheduled flight date for this coming Sunday, and I'm now waitlisted.
The next confirmed flight they are operating is January 4 and that would mean potentially changing a lot of things in my work life to accommodate them. I'm not happy at all.
The woman I was talking to sounded like she was trying to do me a favor to pay me an extra $150 for showing up this Sunday and then postponing the actual trip a month. She didn't seem to get that spending for days out of the country was something that required a bit of planning.

sorry to hear that. AND staying 4 weekdays away instead of the weekend away is a big consideration/difference too. That is if you were departing on the 11th
I remember reading that any delay from a scheduled flight they would give you $150 per day. You should tell them it is about 25 days x $150
(Maybe that was for weather delays - sorry)
Are you re-scheduled to 1/4?
On second thought I bet you still go this Sunday - they seem to have a lot of no-shows.

And now I'm back at home. I went in as the first alternate (there were 3) but didn't make it for this trip. Apparently they've canceled a few flights and they basically took those folks and pushed them onto today's flight and me and the other two got pushed out the back end of the list.
Even more troubling is that there is a lot of confusion as to the future of the study at this point. They are apparently restarting first round screenings soon, so there is some thought that they are going to be continuing the trips, but at the same time there is some discussion that they are actually done with the trips and that this is the last one because they have enough data. In other words, no one really seems to know what is going on.
We get the $150 "bonus" for the inconvenience of getting bumped today, but I'm still pretty annoyed at the situation. I've got a few weeks to think about it a bit more but there's a decent chance I'll tell them to shove it with the run-around I've been getting. I'm supposedly confirmed on the 1/4 flight (again a Sunday departure, no no real difference for me there in terms of days), but I'm going to wait until I hear from them again before I get too worked up about any of it.
