ARGH! Called back this morning and was asked to call back in a few hours as no screeners were available.
Sounds like they ask fairly simple questions, not sure though if I should make the call from my office or get some privacy so I don't sound weird in front of my coworkers.
Can you say what you did during the day? Were you allowed to bring books/laptops/etc to relax, and were you able to keep up a normal exercise routine, or were you busy with stuff all day?
I'm picturing a reality TV show like Big Brother where everyone is just bored.

I got my $2500 about 2 weeks later.
I really appreciate finding good info from someone who's been there. I'm going for my physical, EKG and drug screening Friday in Atlanta and hope to make the cut. Are you around other people in the research facility or do you have to stay in your room all three days? Also, do you have internet access while there?

They are flexible with the screenings and the initial overnight and next day stay. These are 2 separate visits. The trip itself has set dates. It was the same private plane on the outbound and the inbound. Our private jet had to wait around for us. I was actually hoping we would have a different plane on the return so I could try out a new configuration, since I was told all the plane's interior designs are different.

There is one very crappy internet terminal for the participants to use. You can socialize a lot. All meals are communal. There is only french TV channels.
Just on a whim, I filled out the online form and was called to participate. My next step is the physical exam.
So... what all takes place during this exam? Is it invasive? I don't mind a little exam but I'm not going through a full physical and a bunch of really private stuff for a sleep study... that doesn't make sense to me.
While you're there, can you go outside? Can you take a camera? Laptop? Do they fly out and return on certain days each week? (Like it always starts on a Monday, etc). They told me they had flights every week and I would have options. I was wondering if it was a consistent schedule or it varied. How about phone calls?
I'm most worried about not having my laptop for work reasons. I wouldn't want to be on it all the time but just in case of emergency. I don't really have any backup around the office.
I hope, if I get past the next step, I can get with an interesting group. I'd hate to be stuck with a bunch of boring people for 5 days.. lol
Thanks! I'm going to check out the rest of this forum now too.
Oh I know, I've been through that part. I was asking if he was rejected because of weight over the phone during the initial interview or during the physical exam.
They asked my height and weight and everything during my interview on the phone.
The woman that gave me the screening test didn't seem to have much information. She was simply filling out a form. For instance, I asked what I would be doing all day in the study center and the response was "oh, they have things for you to do".
Maybe they only go into details with people that qualify.
The people that screen you often do not have details of the study. Their job is to make/receive phone calls and screen potential participants.
Well I got my screening call
I’m a healthy male , no prior tobacco/drug or excessive alcohol use, so I passed with flying colors and will be getting a call from the researchers now… guinea pig training course
I actually work about 3 blocks from their offices in New York so the overnights shouldn’t be an issue, I’ll just walk to work
They ask you tons of medical questions, prescription drug use, about almost every medical condition known to man kind, etc. I just answered truthfully to all the questions…
I should be getting a call in a few days for a first visit blood test/Ekg/Physical etc
Regarding computer use, they asked if I was willing to leave my laptop behind, at that point I inquired about my Blackberry, they didn’t have an answer, but said I should ask during the follow-up call.
During the NYC visits, you must stay at their facilities, so no clubbin/partying… same thing in France… based upon those results they will see whether you qualify for the trip/$2500.
Tomorrow November 6th from 5.30 – 8 PM they have an info session in New York.
From their website: Please attend our Open House to find out more about the jet lag study and other healthy volunteer studies: Thursday, November 6th, 5:30-8:00PM, Clinilabs, 423 W. 55th Street, 4th Floor, NY, NY
