I was just able to redeem for AA miles. Got a confirmation email, and points were deducted, so we'll see. June 12 redemptions are still pending, so I have no idea when or if I'll see this one.

It's very strange -- it seems like the bugs aren't consistent from account to account. On that double points day, I had played with two different accounts (different email addresses). Then on 6/12, I redeemed from one account for USAir miles and on the other for Delta miles.

Neither miles have credited yet.
On the account I'm using for USAir, I have no extra points, and the redemption is showing twice in my history.
On the account for Delta, the redemption shows only once, and it gave me a lot of extra points -- "My Ticket Balance" is more than twice the "Lifetime Total"?!?! I don't remember how many tickets I'm supposed to have, but I haven't used this account very much (it's only for those rare times when I hit the daily limit and still feel like playing), and I don't think I'd ever earned this many points. Not that I'm complaining.

I redeemed on 05/30, but the tickets were not deducted back then. then on 06/04 the tickets were deducted and the orders appeared on my history.

on my account:
miles redeemed 05/30 (ticket reduction 06/04): tickets refunded
4 other redemptions made between 06/12 and 06/18 in alternate days: nothing. no refunds, no miles posted, no double listing.

on Ms. Firefoxy account:
miles redeemed 06/15 double listed. no refunds.

I ordered some other items and didn't get any refunds nor double listing.

My mile redemption for 26 June is showing up twice.

On the question about whether this double display is relevant for other types of redemptions - I did redeem for the headset (need something better than the PC's built-in microphone for Skype) on 27 June and it displays once.

I find it fascinating that a huge global company, like Microsoft, with some of the worlds best engineers, with all of their advanced technology, can have so many continual problems with this particular gaming system....simply amazing.

Do you mean the VISTA experimental failure?

I am running XP PRO and as soon as they fully discontinue support of XP, I am heading over to APPLE, MICROSOFT just doesn't seem to get it.

Ditto. VISTA seems like an Apple ad exec's dream come true. If I have to learn new operating system, I might as well switch to a Mac.

And is MicroSoft screwed up? Isn't there a flight simulator in Excel? No surprises on the bug front here.

Anyway, I guess reality is more complex than my simplistic model (redemptions-refunds-double listings). No ideas what is happening then.

I guess with MICROSOFT having 90% of the market, or whatever it is, they can screw many simple things up and still have most of the market share, they don't need to worry about it, because they still make money.

It is just frustrating from an end user standpoint, as all we are trying to do is play games and earn prizes, as advertised.....sorry for taking this thread off in another direction folks.....just venting.

Does this seem right? I'm not at all sure about the dates, except for 10 June, which is when the prizes returned. A more committed FTer could go back through the 90 pages of responses to get a firmer timeline.

Another question: Is this (double listings, refunded redemptions) just a problem with the airline miles, or is it generalizable to all prize redemptions?

just because LSC says congrats you' ve successfully redeemed your points, does not mean they will go into your mileage account, even though you have confirmation numbers. I have a long list of confiration numbers, yet only 500 miles are actually posted in my airline miles account. This was 5 x 100 each. I have about 4,000 outstanding miles with confirmation numbers, written to LSC and they keep saying 2 more days.

No one but Microsoft knows for sure what is going on behind the scenes....stay tuned.

If my miles awards go through, I'm not going to complain about their latest errors. Anyway, already I've received over 30,000 miles from this, so even if nothing else goes through, this was a pretty good thing for me. If everything goes through, eventually I'll be looking at a free trip to Europe in business class from this. Not counting taxes and fees.

I agree. I've had a great ride so far. I will be sad when it ends, but that has to happen one day. As for bugs in the system, I just remind myself that Live Search is run by Microsoft. Bugs are the norm and to be expected on what they do. I will save my anger for when it involves my operating system (that is whole different can of worms).

With 14000 live points to redeem, I am hoping that I can redeem them for miles. Otherwise, someone will be getting a Kitchenaid mixer from me for Christmas.

I also just realized that I can also feel good about the fact that I have donated almost $40 to an animal shelter through the charity option (back when you could automatically donate a percentage of your earnings).
