Having been around LSC for casual gaming and miles earning for over a year, I've seen the tightening of rules and programmed delay efforts to prevent the system misuse such as seen in post #24. Wow!

These guys do spoil it for everyone! There's lots of greed in our country today, and these guys personify it!

The more I read over there, the more pissed off I get. These people use bots on multiple accounts and up until recently seemed to be more interested in the computer game/Zune type of prizes. They were ordering them and selling them on Ebay. They don't appear to have a clue as to what FF miles were until recently, then they discovered they can use miles to get gift certificates for shopping via points.com. So now they are targetting miles as a prize. LSC monitors that forum and that is probably why they have the new restrictions in place.

They have threads on there promoting use of bots, telling which bots are good for which games. I just wish LSC would find some way to bot-proof their games and loosen up the restrictions. I have never used bots, I use an anagram solver on a split screen and manually type the words in. Oh and get this: LSC throws up Captchas at fast typists in the middle of the puzzle so THOSE people are programming bots to type at a certain speed to avoid the Captchas.

Well now we know WHY everything is buggered up for the rest of us! Redeeming more than one account to the same airline in less than a week seems to trigger a rejection. I also learned that LSC uses USPS addresses to prevent multiple shipping to the same address so they have several threads over there on how to disguise your address if you don't have friends addresses to ship to.

I think these people are the reason for the Black Hole of Christmas too as that is when they seem to have stepped up efforts for FF miles.

I love the "What can you do with frequent flyer miles? What can you buy?" and the guy who said "I'm unwilling to get on a plane, so I don't mind being ripped off by Points.com"

At least American isn't losing as much money as they would otherwise. Taking 25K miles for a $25 Amazon cert is much better than them taking up Y availability in our cabins.

These people are probably 15 or 16 years old, by the sounds of it!

Bzzt! Denied!

Well, I just got this today, guess that settles that.
I just did a redemption yesterday for the 2500 AA miles.

Dear Live Search Club Participant,

You are receiving this communication from Live Search Club because you recently placed a duplicate prize order with Live Search Club. As noted in our Terms and Conditions, prizes are limited to one of each prize per household. Your duplicate order for 2500 Frequent Flyer Miles has been cancelled and 4,300 tickets have been re-issued to the account from which the duplicate prize order was placed. We are sending this email to let you know that tickets have been re-issued to your account and are ready for you to redeem for another prize of your choice in our Prize Mall.

Thank you for being a loyal Live Search Club participant!

Kind Regards,

The Live Search Club Support

Please do not reply to this email, this is an unmonitored alias.

However, when I checked my account, I'm still down 4 the tickets for 4 other missing redemptions, 2 x 2500 AA, 1 x 500 AA, and 1 x 1000 AA.

My sentiments exactly, or a bunch of college kids with too much spare time on their hands. I just love the "what are FF miles?" post in that thread.

Ruined it for all of us...

I just received the same email for redemptions on Dec 24 and Jan 2, and tickets were re-issued back to my LSC account. However, miles redeemed on Jan 2 were posted to my Delta's account last Monday. Will they remove miles from my Delta's account?

Haven't gotten any emails yet, but 4300 points just mysteriously got credited back to my account while I was casually playing a game.

I'm guessing that means they're starting to cancel my remaining two mileage redemptions...

For the people who are having their redemptions rejected and credited back:

Are these from accounts that previously had redemptions for the same award (2500, 1000, 500 or 100 miles)? This would indicate that they are only referencing by account, not by FF#, street address or whatever.

Has anyone ever had a rejection from a fresh new account that has only had one of each award to a max of 4100 miles per LSC account?

Some Data Points . . .

All to a pretty much orphaned DL account:

1/3/09 for 2500 miles, deposited 1/27
1/4/09 for 500 miles, deposited 1/27
1/5/09 for 100 miles, deposited 1/30
1/9/09 for 1000 miles, nothing yet.

I received 5 e-mails today which were all of my redemptions except for the 100 mile one done after 1/1/09. I still have ones from 12/25 & prior listed in my account history. The 5 after that time that I received e-mails for disappeared from my redemption history.

I am still hesitant to have my son work on this program (and yes - he lives 200 miles away from me). He was going to do it and redeem some & contribute to my account, but I am worried he will spend all of this time and just get the failure e-mail.

They had escalated my case on the other missing miles, however, I still had not received a reply so I did a follow-up e-mail the other day. I received this back today:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you. We have already escalated your case to our management team. Currently, there is no update in regard to your case. We will be able to provide you with an update once more information becomes available.

Any suggestions on what to get with 15,977 miles LOL?

Well, if you can't get enough miles for a ticket:
- I'm signed up for about 10 FF programs -- even if I only fly an airline once, and they don't have a partner, I'll sign up anyway -- because you never know. Sign up for an airline you don't usually fly and deposit there. Good for mergers.
- Use some miles for magazines or whatever the airline program offers -- free stuff and it makes your account 'current'.
- I've had accounts for which my miles were all about to expire -- sometimes you can donate some miles (1k or 10k or whatever you want) to a charity. No tax write-off but it'll help people, make you feel good, and, again, keep your account active/up to date.

(I know you were pretty much kidding w/ your LOL, but someone else may have the same questions .)

You almost seem upset that people are interested in prizes besides miles. Humorous, I must say. However, at 28,000 points, and retailing for $319 (And selling on eBay for upwards of $150 (not including shipping)), Windows Vista Ultimate is a much better deal than forking over close to 50,000 points for an amount of FF miles that can net you $105 or so in Amazon.com gift cards. And even the Zune is a better deal than the FF miles. 38,500 points for a 30 Gigabyte first generation Zune MP3 player that will sell for between $100 and $150 on eBay? Better deal than the miles once again.

Don't be upset with us because we understand simple math better than you.

The crowd at CN is for the most part quite an educated crowd. The member who asked what FF miles were is a new member. He joined this January, and is not representative of the general population of the website. You can laugh at him (feel free -- he's been nothing but an idiotic member anyways.), but you'd be wrong to say that in doing so you were laughing at the entire site.

Now, excuse me, but I must go and continue having a good laugh while the members here become enraged at the CN community. Yes -- you are all FF mile "experts" here. But I'm willing to bet that in the past few months, half the members of CN have gotten more miles from Club Live than you "experts" here have. It's about being resourceful. We work with what we have to work with. Those making the bots educate themselves and the public, and hey -- we get free Zunes, software, and FF miles with it. Can't beat that, can you?

And make the games "bot-proof"? LOL. Oh, thank you! I needed a good laugh this morning. We can always make bots that act just like a human for simple games like those on Club Live. Easy. Club Live is caught in a dilemma though. If they try to make the games more bot-proof, they're only going to frustrate more legitimate sucke-- err, players, hence the speed captchas. But that's easy to bypass too. Cheat Engine, speed hack Firefox. The games will run at an increased speed, but you type at your same old speed. Overall, the game thinks you're just typing super slow. Therefore, no captchas. But, back on topic here, if they try to make the games more bot-proof, they'd end up having to increase the number of captchas dramatically. You don't want that, do you?

(And by the way, I type 135 WPM. No, that's not a lie. So don't think that you're the only people affected by the speed captchas. We're just smart enough to say "Hey, this is stupid," and find ways around them.)

Also, just because I know you guys here will get your panties in more knots at me saying this: The topic starter didn't even use a bot to get those 75,000 FF miles. He used Tamper Data (Google it. You do know what Google is, right?) and figured out exactly what to edit to trick points.com into thinking he redeemed for more miles than he really did. While it would take you guys probably half an hour to click and fill out redemption information for that many miles, he did that in... oh... about 12 seconds.

Cheers.
