On the advice of this thread I got first 1000 and then 500 AA miles. Then that option vanished. I'm saving my points until something I want comes along.
I haven't checked the prizes in awhile, and the miles are gone. Hopefully, not for long. Last time they came back after a week or so. They also aren't showing any prizes over 2000 tickets- half the prizes are gone.
I still say some people read too much into this. It's one of the flakiest prize programs run on the internet, with the exception that this one actually works occasionally and prizes are awarded. The T&C's of LSC are meaningless. Otherwise the multiple accounts loophole wouldn't be an option and highly exploited. As for physical gifts, even with the previous limit of 3 items per address, there are posts elsewhere of people simply changing their LSC registered address and getting additional items sent to a friend or neighbor's house.
I say just earn tickets leisurely and generally ignore anything else until desirable prizes return. Simple.
an interesting test would be for someone with a new account to post whether miles awards are available, and in what denominations. i tried to create a new account, to see if ff miles are available to new users, but the site dies while initializing the new account.
in other words, are miles available only to accounts that have not redeemed tickets for miles in the past?
at least i can see one bright spot to the current site problems - i won't have to read 10 posts tomorrow telling me that the day after monday is tuesday!

I don't disagree that this is a pretty flaky program. But I do think it's significant that they changed the T&C so explicitly. I can't imagine that it was just a coincidence that they changed the language to reflect one redemption per item (and also provide examples using the song downloads).

I agree. I think if miles are not affected by the new limit, it will be because of technical difficulties or bad programming, not by design. I can think of no reason they would limit songs but not miles.

I don't deny that the possibility of severely limited redemptions may soon exist.
However, I still think it's pointless to concern ourselves with this, speculate on the possibilities and debate it. Until the miles (or even prizes actually most people find of value) return and we try some redemptions, we just won't know. Right now I'd be satisfied if the 20K miles I have pending actually post.
I was looking at the pages of the song download provider (www.puretracks.com) and noticed that they claim "All legal (i.e. the artist gets paid) music downloads are copy protected (Digitally Rights Managed ("DRM")." in their help pages. As I was getting ready to post a rant about "playsforsure", drm-crap and wma in general, but then noticed that despite this statement they're selling mp3 files. Even for free I wouldn't get anything but mp3 files, who knows how long that store will be around to provide the license server when even microsoft is pretty quick to shutdown those.

Did you post this to the forum you intended it to go to? I don't see the relevance to FlyerTalk. Or am I just being too sensitive to off-topic postings?

Internet mileage earning promos come and go. I can't complain about this one as the miles posted puctually every time and this promo lasted quite a long time. Well, at least for me they did. Between the three AA acounts in our family, we earned enough to add 20K miles to each account. This gave us the miles we needed to cash in for a South American vacation!
