Hammering away for a few months? A lot of people get the 4,300 points in just over 4 days (1.5-2 hours per 1,000). You might want to think about game selection.

Agree completely. I started last week and just did my first 4,300 ticket exchange, and was hardly hammering away.

I don't think it's game selection, I've finished Matt Lauer and I'm doing Flexicon like there is no tomorrow, however being from Australia there are a few questions that really stop me in my tracks as they are too American. Famous brands, people and places that are obvious to you are not so obvious to me i.e. "Breakfast restaurant acronym", I've never even seen an IHOP, I don't know that Yale is a New Haven School or that 2000 Green party candidate is Ralph Nader so I'm clicking on the hints a lot.
I'm not stupid, but I've been doing Flexicon today for 2 hours and only got to 625.

It will get easier, because Flexicon repeats a lot. Although it does help to have a solid grounding in US trivia.
I received some AA miles, too. Only 20K still outstanding. Next Tuesday, I hope, and then the task of redeeming them.

As others comment, they do replicate answers/questions. Plus I don't really get too stumped by the questions, even though I am also Australian. The hints may be difficult, but based around the other answers and word patterns, things should be relatively easy to guess.

But it's the International House of Pancakes! Isn't IHOP world-renowned?
625 for 2 hours is not bad. If you go too fast, the mid-game pop-up boxes will slow you down anyhow.

We all know that some of the clues are really context-dependent (even for Americans) and do repeat - however, there are ways to avoid a lot of those implicit cultural references, such as through word games (e.g. Chicktionary and Spelling Bee). Since I'm not so good with watching television and don't care about "pop culture", I know offhand I can't do the "Red Carpet Reveal" game.
Just put in for Hawaiian miles last night. We'll see how long they take to post. Took me just over 4 days for 2500 miles, 4300 points. Finished matt lauer and am alternating between chicktionary and spelling bee for now.
