Lightbulb [Conga] Topline Ad-Replacement, Monetize Your Browsing (Requires Extension Install)

I'm not sure if this is allowed here since it might not be in the best interest of sites that serve ads.
If a mod deems that there is a conflict of interest at hand, please don't hesitate to lock/delete this thread.
My apologies if I'm breaking any rules, I've tried my best to read all guidelines and rules of this forum and I think this fits the criteria for other extraordinary offers.

Topline is a new program that I feel has lots of promise. You install the extension and they basically replace existing ads on web pages with their own affiliate ads. In exchange for viewing their ads, you get a kickback on the ad revenue. You can cash out once you hit $10 via PayPal. (~13333 points = $10). You get about 1 point per ad, so it's not much, but it's almost passive income.

Another benefit are the ads are of much higher quality, no flashy "you are our one millionth visitor or shoot 3 targets and win ads". I used to use ....... until I figured out I can monetize my own surfing. You do need to install their extension/addon, but they do pay.

Available for
Chrome, Firefox, and Safari

There is code on their side that checks for people trying to game the system,
by using auto refreshers or multiple connections from the same ip's
In the first case they stated they will ban such users, after a certain number of infractions.
Every time you get an infraction your last days earnings are set to 0.
In the latter case (multiple connections) they stated they will throttle points by the number of connections. (eg 2 connections, 50% each)

Benefits for referrals:
You get ~5% of your referrals points. Every time your referral views an ad there is a 5% chance you get a point as well.

I've had it for two days and checked just now and have 195 points. So that works out to about $2 per month. Which isn't lucrative, but given that no effort is involved, it'll do.

your doing better than me, i'm averaging 75 or so a day. Nice thing is that it is passive for the most part, and combines nicely with existing ad heavy deal sites like swagbucks, superpoints, and mypoints.

I was excited about this program, but I've been disappointed. First, in my experience at least, you don't get anywhere near a point per ad.... you don't even get a point per page with ads. I am sure there is some sort of software trying to prevent manipulation, but it is definitely over-preventing - to the benefit of Topline's owners.

Second, $0.75 per 1,000 points (which again, you probably get every 2-3 pages you view) is pretty low, but I can live with that. What bothers me is that they've already put in the system to lower that exchange rate easily... and apparently we're near the top of the rate grid right now.

Finally, it doesn't just replace ads... you have to load the first ad, then that gets taken away and Topline substitutes a new ad in its place. It doesn't slow down your browsing THAT much, but it does slow it down. And before you say I should just load the pages in new tabs, I've tried that and it seemed to further decrease the points/page views Topline was paying out.

I'll give it a few more days I guess.

You make a compelling argument, I agree with your first point, I feel this is sort of my fault for accidentally misleading you about the ~1 point per ad. At the time of writing I just took the most convenient number I could think of instead of empirically testing. (Cut me some slack I only get at most 1 referral from making this thread.)

And to some degree I also agree with your last point
(although I think its only a subconscious slow down, the page itself is already loaded and can be used as is, but the flash of changing ads is annoying)

but I entirely disagree with your second point, in fact i feel quite the opposite.
That grid that you speak of is no indicator of future value of topline points, it is only an indicator of the recent past.

Just because they didn't make additional whitespace on top does not justify the concept that we're currently at the max.
Its very easy for anyone to change the y axis maximum to a new value,

Since their inception they have been at 75cents per 1000 point, while it is possible points can devalue I believe we are currently at the bottom of their value and point values will rise, probably not by much, but slightly

Why? They've made a post on reddit recently

A few people have already covered point value info, but on the topic of point values... we're developing a self-serve portal for brands to be able to purchase inventory directly from TopLine. By working directly with brands (rather than going through networks) we'll be able to increase the amounts we receive for ad display, which in turn will allow us to increase point value.
We're expecting to be done with the purchase portal within the next few weeks. We'll focus on brand acquisition after that.
Anyway, look forward to cool things!
-Ron (TopLine)
I'm hopeful, but to be honest, I really don't care much about point values. if I can cash out once per year I'm happy. To me its 100% passive money, that I wouldn't have otherwise.

I can't seem to find a newer thread concerning this site, so I hope no one minds me bumping this.

This seems like a good site. I'm on an 18mb connection and it seems fine to me. I miss ....... plus but I'll live.

Again, sorry!
