It wasn't working quite right and this posted to my FB page after I tried it earlier:

So, it's not you (if it doesn't work) - they are having issues.

I was finally able to join as well. At least, I think I joined, as it took me to an account page, but I've not received any sort of welcome email. :)

you could try logging in and seeing what happens? If it doesn't recognize you, then maybe it didn't go through...

It did recognize me, so even without a confirmation email, it went through.
