I know several of you regularly head to OVB and I'll be heading there myself for the first time in a few weeks. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations?
Thanks!

There is a new hotel at the airport - quite decent and reasonably priced (from RUB 2800): Skyport Hotel http://www.skyport.su. I stayed there once before an early flight to DME, good 3.5* standard, fresh and friendly.
In the city center in a great location is Hotel DeLuxe http://www.hoteldeluxe.ru - small place with only a few rooms, but perhaps the most luxurious - didn't stay there yet though. Should be around RUB 8000.
I stayed at the Sibir Hotel last year - it's a decent location and the room was awesome. There's a "dance bar" in the basement (kind of sketchy), but the breakfast buffet is pretty solid and the English-speaking staff was quite helpful.

Sibir might be your best bet if you don't speak Russian and need a centrally located place to stay. The breakfast is quite good. I forget where I am sometimes when I eat there.
I have come to like the Garden Apple hotel and have pointed a number of people there recently. www.garden-apple.ru/en will take you to the English page.
I have not stayed at the airport properties and can't imagine ever doing it unless your business was right around there.
If you are up to renting a place of your own I have some local contacts that are great to work with. PM me if you are interested.
Someday, when that DoubleTree by Hilton opens up we will have no questions about where to stay. Till then...
My vote also goes to the Sibir. The best centrally located hotel in Novosibirsk. The food is good, the staff friendly, the rooms nice, and they're hooker friendly. That's a joke! Back when I was dating my wife, she came by the lobby to visit me one day. They wouldn't let her up to my room until they checked all her documents and then the security guy pulled her aside and told her to just "check in with him" in the future when she had "business" in the hotel and for a few rubles he'd let her in without being checked at the counter. She actually thought it was quite humorous.
I personally wouldn't recommend the airport area unless it's just a place to crash for a few hours before a flight. It's out in the middle of nowhere.

Hooker friendly. Nice. The one down on the river that used to be the Ob Hotel (Garden Hotel or Park Garden or something like that now) seems to be run by hookers. I've had clients stay there and the calls for "services" begin immediately when they unlock their door and walk into the room. Sad but true.
Nice to know you're still around Medic1. We will eventually meet one day.
I'm still alive and well. Anna has been here since May and she should have her Green Card within a month or so. I miss Novosibirsk as it's been almost a year since I've been there, but I won't get back for at least another year due to the job. Anna heads back to OVB in January for a couple of weeks to visit family.
I ended up at the Sibir - it was fine. The Garden Apple looked nicer, but all of my business was going to be on the other side of the river and Sibir was just more convenient.
I liked the breakfast buffet and was pleasantly surprised by the free wifi.
I passed the Delux a few times walking and it looked really nice. I am going to second the motion that it will be nice when the Doubletree opens and there is no longer any question.

Now that's worth mentioning. Thanks for letting me know. I just lost my renters in my apartment there so no hotels needed for me for a while. Home sweet home will have to do.
Anyone here know anyone there looking for a nice 4 room flat (7th floor) at Kalinina Square (Zaelsofskaya Metro)? Do tell if so...
