Ritz Carlton Langkawi Malaysia [Master Thread]

Hotel website:

http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/malaysia/langkawi

"The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi is now accepting reservations for arrivals beginning on July 1st.

Fringed by lush rainforests and lapped by the clear-blue Andaman Sea, the Malaysian island of Langkawi has a new addition to its landscape: The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi. The oceanfront resort blends beautifully with its surroundings and was designed to reflect a traditional kampong village with 90 luxurious guest rooms and suites and 29 pool villas, three swimming pools, a locally inspired spa, there dining outlets, two ocean front bar and lounge, indoors and outdoors wedding venues."

Important to note that, as expected, "Hotel does not participate in The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program"

It does participate. They havent still decided the tier level yet.

You can choose a redemption stay by calling marriott customer care.

The website has many issues - it lists the haikou property as not participating even though its tier 1.

When you choose use my points it tells that call customer care to book.

When I called they said they can book even though the number of points needed was unknown at this point of time.

Website now says it's opening October 1st. RC website doesn't show it participating in rewards.

I'll be staying there next month.. really looking forward to it! Hope it won't disappoint as I can't set my expectations beforehand given it's new and there are no reviews yet on TripAdvisor

Any thoughts Jennifer? Have a stay booked at the Andaman, but thinking of cancelling, transferring SPG points to Marriott Rewards and booking the RC instead. How would you rate the RC?
