Airports Allowing Uber Pickups

United States

ANC - Ride share services allowed. Pickups: North Terminal - at the curb as you exit; South Terminal - upper level (Departures) at Doors 1, 3, 4 and 8. (Maps here)

ATL - UberX, UberBlack

BNA - UberX and UberBlack - dedicated area ground floor to the right

BOS - UberX, UberXL, UberSUV and UberBLACK available. Rideshare pickup areas are located at Terminal A and between Terminal C and E. $3.25 Airport fee will be added to the ride.

CLT - UberX and UberBLACK are allowed. Pick up at arrivals area, lower level. The app will confirm pick-up at Zone D; all pick-ups must be made at Zone D. UberBLACK = $30 flat rate airport-downtown.

COS - UberX allowed

DAL - UberX pickups allowed

DCA - As of 11/1 - MWAA has legalized rideshare services. $4 surcharge on top of normal rates. Pick-ups on outer curb, outside of baggage claim.

DEN - UberX, Uber XL, Uber Select pick up approved from either Level 4 or Level 6 (arrivals or departures). The rider app even prompts you to select East or West side and then a door number. All Uber Black pick ups are on Level 5 (Commercial Vehicles area), which is the level for taxis, hotel shuttles and limos

DFW - UberX pickups allowed, there is a $2 toll for International Parkway (which runs through the airport) that will be added to your fare.
Caveat: If you are traveling between two points that go via the airport, the Uber app and most GPS apps will route the driver around the airport to avoid the toll, although the distance + time to go around the airport may exceed $2 extra.

DSM - UberX, UberBlack. Dedicated "Rideshare" pickup area.

DTW - Most drivers (X or black) can meet you curbside. Tip: at McNamara terminal, easiest pickup point is the Westin hotel entrance on the departures level. Black cars that are also Metro Cars (the official airport limo service) will need to park at their designated livery area -- driver will greet you in person.

EWR - Technically illegal, but UberX, XL, Black, SUV are all available (NJ rates + $20 surcharge if traveling into NYC)

FLL - Uber Pickups Allowed

HNL - For Interisland and International arrivals, use the second median on the departures level, across from Lobby 2. For Mainland US arrivals, use the second median on the departures level, across from Lobby 8. A 7.527% surcharge will be added to all uberX, uberXL, and UberSELECT pickups from HNL.

HOU - Designated Uber pickup area

IAD - As of 11/1 - MWAA has legalized rideshare services. $4 surcharge on top of normal rates. Pick-ups on arrivals level.

IND

JFK - UberPool, X, XL, CarSeat, VIP, Black, SUV (regular rates)

JNU - Rideshare services allowed. Pickups at the designated rideshare area at the end of the canopy outside of baggage claim.

LAS - Designated Uber pickup area

LAX - UberX/XL/Select/Black. Allow an extra few minutes for the driver to purchase required permit before entering terminal area.

LGA - UberPool, X, XL, CarSeat, VIP, Black, SUV (regular rates). For pickups from terminal B (serving all airlines except Delta), passengers need to take a shuttle bus to a rideshare pickup lot).

LGB - Kind of... UberX allowed to pick up only from the cellphone lot, which means the pax must trek out to Lakewood Blvd, approximately 5-10 minute walk.

MCO - All Rideshare services allowed.

MIA - UberPool, X, XL, Lux, and LuxSUV. $2 surcharge.

MDW (eff. Nov 18)
  • UberX - upper level, adjacent to Door 1

MSP $6 surcharge which compares favorably to taxi surcharge and flag drop fee. Follow signs to taxi pickup and use door for prearranged rides.

OAK - UberX, XL, Black, SUV. Pickup is curbside at 2E (on the first traffic island). $3.15 airport surcharge plus any tolls.

ORD - UberX, UberBlack and UberTaxi at designated curbside Rideshare Loading Zones:
  • between T1/T2, upper level
  • between T2/T3, upper level
  • at T5, west end of lower level
$5 surcharge. All rideshare companies operate out of a staging area off-site, and will drive to the zone after you request. Most drivers will also call you to ensure that you are at the correct zone. Drivers will not be pinged to your location unless they are in the staging area. The O'Hare Hilton counts as part of the airport, and pickups are not allowed there.

PDX - $2 charge for drop/pickup, outside of baggage claim, far left hand island labeled "Transportation Network Companies"

PHL - UberX and UberBlack.

RDU - Drop-off and pickup at "Prearranged Services" areas marked in purple: Terminal 1, Zone 1 or Terminal 2, arrivals (lower) level, Zone 17. These areas are near the rental car shuttle pickups. Additional fee of $1 for uberX/UberSELECT, $1.50 for uberXL.

SAT - UberX allowed, pickup for terminal B is on baggage claim level at far end; unclear of terminal A pickup location (may be same -- terminals are small and connected)

SEA - only a subset of X drivers may pick up at the designated pickup spot in the parking garage. More X drivers may pick up from the light rail station, east of International Blvd.

SAN - $2-4(?) service fee on uber-x pickup. T1: cross skybridge and go to ride share area (short term parking). T2: middle of departures level

SNA - UberX pickups allowed

SFO - UberPOOL, UberX, UberXL, Black Car and SUV. Pickup is curbside on departures level (According to Uber, "Picking up at the arrivals area is against SFO policy and may result in a $100 citation" for the driver). $3.85 airport surcharge plus any tolls.

It's just an extra step that's unnecessary but for the airports not liking new kids in their sandbox.

I took the liberty of organizing the Wiki into regions (well, all US, but for two Asian entries).

MSY allows pickups, but there is a mandatory minimum $75 fare, and you are forced to use Uber Black.

If you have 4 people, it is a no-brainer since cabs have regulated $15pp fares from MSY to the city.

HT to gleff from VFTW, as of Nov 1 MWAA has legalized rideshare services. There will be a $4/ride airport surcharge on top of normal fares. Apparently pickups as well as dropoffs will be ok at IAD and DCA.

I'm not sure if Uber is officially allowed, but at BOS, if you try to request an Uber, it will pop up a message saying that Uber will only pick up in the Limo pick-up area, and the only options are UberX and UberBLACK.

I took an uberX earlier this month from LAX. Was able to arrange a pickup straight from the app, designate the pickup terminal, and coordinated pick-up location with driver via text. A $4.00 "LAX Airport Surcharge" was added in addition to the usual $1.65 "Safe Rides Fee."

MSP allows pickup, hard to find online documentation though. Black or SUV service only so regular taxi will be about 20% cheaper to either downtown.
