Renting in Budapest

We will be traveling to Romania in the winter for 22 days and we were thinking of renting a car from Budapest (our landing airport). I tried different sites for prices and the best one until now it was kayak with cars from a company named Schiller. Well, actually best price would be Enterprise but they don't allow me to take the car to Romania so that's out together with Alamo and Budget who partner with Enterprise on that location.Hertz, Sixt and Avis priced a compact at over $800. Schiller priced it at $490 plus taxes (winter tires, cross border, highway fee and out of ours drop off) another $130.
My question is do I have any chance of getting a better price? $600 seems a little too much considering I payed $500 for the plane ticket from USA....

I found an offer from autoeurope for an opel astra or similar at 480 euro ( which would be around $540 dollars). The renting company is USave, anyone has any experience with them?

Would be more easier and cheaper to rent a car in Romania from an independent rental agency.
