so let me ask you this have you ever been served a Regal meal on any Carrier other then CO that wasnt GLATT? My own experience with Regal is solely with CO so I cant comment, I dont even know if Borenstein has reg Kosher meals in lieu of only being Glatt

IMO it doesmnt make much sense since they would need to have a kitchen that is solely used for Glatt ONLY since I dont see R' Teitlbaum or any other Respective Rav or Org allowing Glatt meals to be prepared and cooked using the kalim (utensils) for non-Glatt meals

thats why I posted the only vendor I know that is not 100% Halav Yisroel is KoshAir I dont recall another US KSML vendor saying their Dairy isnt Halav Yisroel or may not be at times besides KA, and KA says they are Glatt OU

I'm sorry, it's the other way around. The Regal meal IS Glatt, but the regular Borenstein meal (the regular meal served on LY, not the Mehadrin one) is NOT Glatt. (my mistake before)

OK so Regal is now settled

As for Borenstein Ive had it on AA and UA (guess they ran out of KoshAir) and both times Borenstein was Glatt and had an OU, flew LY a few yrs ago and dont remember what it was then, but Id be very surprised if they had both Glatt and non-Glatt it doesnt make sense even KoshAir is Glatt, maybe someone else can chime in with if there US-TLV meal was Borenstein Glatt on LY

When's the last time you had the regular, (not the Mehadrin version) of the LY meal? That's been Borenstein for a long time, and not Glatt, but OU.

The OU doesn't certify non-glatt meat anymore. Most local vaads won't certify non-glatt either. As a result it's very difficult to get non-glatt meat in the US (Hebrew National hot dogs being the major exception).

My Borenstein chicken meal last month to Frankfurt was "Glatt" although there's technically no such thing as Glatt chicken.

It is very possible to get non-glatt meat in America. Just not in your supermarket. I am told the cost of non-glatt kosher meat is about 5% more than non-kosher meat so a lot of it ends being sold with non-kosher meat and to companies like Hebrew National.

The issue is getting meat that's not Glatt yet certified by a reputable Orthodox Kashrut agency or Rabbi. That is extremely rare. Hebrew National is Triangle K, which is not accepted by most Modern Orthodox communities.

The OU, OK, Chaf K, Star K, CRC... virtually never certify non-Glatt meat.

And because of this policy, you couldn't possibly have been served a non-glatt meal from Borenstein.

Key word is virtually. Please fly EL AL, and don't ask for the Mehadrin meal. Tell me if you see a recognizable Orthodox hashgacha on it. Also check to see if it's Glatt. If the answer is yes to both, then why would LY pay extra for Mehadrin meals meals? If the answer is no to the first, then LY is seriously misleading.
If the answer is yes to the first but no to the second, well, that is indeed the case..

Borenstein's hashgoscho is OU Glatt. Period. If you are happy with the meals being heated up in the aircraft covered (but not double-wrapped) then you will be OK. That is the only difference between the regular LY and Regal for meat meals. For milk meals the difference is that Regal is cholov yisroel whereas the regular is not.

The OU won't certify non-glatt meat, period. If your airline meal has an OU on it and it's a meat meal, it's Glatt.

A very common practice in the US is for charedim who don't "trust" the OU to have their own supervision on a product. In practice that leads to a package on charedi brands having 4 hechshers, including the OU (note the irony). LY pays extra because there are people who would only trust a package that has a hechsher other than or in addition to an OU on it.

This is specific to the US. I can't vouch for the situation in Israel.

There are also those who will insist on double wrapped hot portions. The regular meals are heated with only one layer of foil.

As a follow up, my wife wrote a letter to Lufthansa a few weeks ago to complain about the Stogel cat food. We received an apology in the mail today, along with a €100 inflight credit voucher for our inconvenience.

I was not such a long time ago at a kiddush catered by stogel. He did not dare to serve us the dame food as he does up in the air.
