Kosher Food Issues

I just wanted to report that on a recent booking of TLV/JFK on Iberia, for the first time I'm aware of, there is an additional charge for kosher meals of 12 Euro per flight, coming to 48 Euro for the rountrip. No other special meal has an additional charge.

Very strange. That's not noted on the website

Flew Iberia yesterday, (21.8) and was not charged extra for my kosher meals. Nor was the traveler sitting next to me.

Of course my trip was booked months ago.

Will be interesting to see any other confirmations one way or another .

I was told Air Berlin charges, so maybe its gonna get this way with the European Carriers. At worst use a US Carrier over the pond connecting to a European carrier and you'll get fed w/o paying for it.

I can only hope if they are charging at least the Quality and Quantity is alot better then what they give for $0

I found out about the extra charge, 'incidentally', when after the booking was finalized, I went on the website to select seats & the kosher meals. You've got to look for the info, it's not exactly glaring at you. The website indicates that the charge is collected on the flight.

I've had either Hermolis, Hamasbia, Weiss, or local caterers for IB - never been deep freeze crap.

TLV-MAD was fine in C, MAD-JFK in C was deep freeze as mentioned in the kosher food thread. I imagine JFK-MAD is a different story?

I would take a look at EU, Israeli, US and New York State law regarding this. I don't think it is legal for them to charge you for equal access based on religion.
