Master Thread: Kosher Meals

Let's all work together to make this happen. Please write Airline, Route, KSML provider and a quick summary of what was served.

about all I would need to know if its a Stogels meal or not. Then I would know if I will be starving or not. Whats on the tray doesnt make much of a difference to me at least, since if its not a Hermolis or Regal meal there will be very little on it, and then depending on the Carrier

Outside of the Hermolis meals Ive gotten when flying BA in FC , theres not much of any difference to them even BA in Club was an economy meal. And CO in BF had a fish plate to start with.

I would think the lone exception would be ElAl where in FC (dont know about biz) youd get a service like everyone else does on any other Carrier course after course

So IMO the only real differences will be ElAl & BA if flying in First

nice job, Im very surprsied at CX I heard they ran a Class op.

I guess those Hermolis were served yrs ago before they started with their long shelf life meals that HONcircle was talking about in the thread.

But I remember getting what you showed LHR-TLV and LHR-NY only it was cooked in the trays and they wanted to put it onto the china provided by Hermolis, which of cause I said No to, didnt want to chance them using their utensils and thusly rendering the food then no longer kosher. And I didnt want to bother doing it myself

It didnt look as nice as your pics but it tasted just great

I find it hard to believe that Hermolis would destroy their reputation by making long shelf life meals. Someone has got mixed up.

I agree I should have thrown in a in my previous post

but if they did make them Im sure they would end up being the best longlife meals out there , which isnt saying much

LY C also has real airline service like in F. And what's so special about Hermolis BA F meals? Also in general, what's so special about Hermolis that people keep raving about? I don't think I've had ever, as I'm generally on CO (and am perfectly happy with their BF meal)...

I'm quite impressed. That's a lot of pictures, and a lot looks really good. I want to try that lamb roast from SQ. I'm surprised they provided something like that for the KSML!

Yes, the Herb Roast Rack Lamb was rather good! BA had it in F class for quite a while (see below) but looks like they've now curtailed the Hermolis budget so we get Goulash and Beef Casserole - quite nice, but not as upmarket.

Hmmm... doesn't look like the pic is working. Here's the URL.

SIN-NRT on NH C: Hermoles
NRT-JFK on NH C: Hermoles

Memo to Hermoles. Not all of want to have Salmon on every single flight!

Do you mean the smoked salmon starter or the grilled salmon as a main course? I think there are two possible reasons:
  • The airlines insist on them providing smoked salmon.
For the main course, I think that Salmon reheats well - flaky fish (like cod / haddock / hake) end up too dry. But Hermolis does provide fillets of sole stuffed with salmon mousse - it's just that some airlines don't order that.

Also, salmon is a well-known fish around the world. In the UK we're not familiar with flounder or snapper (although they are similar to sole, which we know well).

Oh, and Hermolis also does a rather nice grilled tuna niçoise.

So, as you'll see from the menus on the Hermolis web site, they can provide a much larger choice of fish - it's just that the airlines / caterers don't choose to order it.

I had recently on LX, prepared by Shalom Catering in Zurich a sandwich with roastbeef.

Usually, shalom catering is acceptable.

There is one british (kosher) airline catering that is awful (not Hermolis), and its food (served as long life meals) tastes like washing powder. (I know because i have tasted washing powder myself when i was a child, just to prove my point).

I found by my travel agent a 'Kosher airline meal survey'.
If you want guys, I'll try to post a copy of it.
