sorry I missed this post of yours. The last time I was on BA in Club back to NY(a few yrs ago admittingly) it was the same meal as those in Y was told only FC gets a different meal. Ive been to London but havent flown BA due to their surcharges and not earning 100% of EQMs/RDMs on the Elcheapos or the fess they tag onto a Miles tkt
from another poster it seems they might have gone back to serving a Biz meal rather then a Y meal
I'll be travelling in BA F next week. If I can remember I will ask the cabin crew what the status of CW KSML is and get back to you.

thanks but the info is for everyone. Last times I was in FC I was asked what I wanted there was a choice of 2 entrees and 4 side dishes, I simply asked her to cook all of it and I will simply pig out. It was good.
hopefuly they still do it that way, was wierd being the only person up front

I'm travelling with the Mrs. so I will definitely not be alone. As of now there are about 5 empty seats in the cabin according to MMB.
they started with Weiss when Weiss was excellent, then moved to Regal which was better then Weiss at their best and last time on CO after succos it was still Regal.
I think Refgal and Borenstein are both out of ElAls kitchen, dont know why the different names
but anything is better then UAs KoshAir with the lone exceptoion of those K-ration lifetime shelf meals
So I believe it's the Regal Meal, provided by Borenstein Caterers.

As a note, the cabin crew may not necessarily know, if there are no KSMLs in CW.

There was a choice of entrees for the KSML and you had them cook it?

1- OK Regal then nothings has changed the other week I actually got a Borenstein meal on my UA SFO-JFK flight I thought Finally KoshAir is gone, Unfortunately that isnt the case must be they ran out and UAs caterer got it from another caterering compnay out there
2- yeh usually they simply board whatever they have and give it out (I think ElAl asks chicken or beef) in BA FC they load a fish and a meat meal and side dishes for each which were different, then ask the passenger what they wanted and heated that up as any other meal is heated up. It wasnt that they actually cooked it sorry if you tookit that way

Does CO only do Borenstein ex-EWR, or from all USA airports? Either way, they're generally fine, and, though I've never had a KSML on UA, I haven't heard good things. I hope Borenstein continues with the expanded carrier.
Does UA serve international type meals, for free, on p.s. flights?
Had a Borenstein meal in Business class on JAL from JFK-NRT. The whole section in plastic was still frozen and expired. The meat was also almost completely raw. I like my steak rare but this was ridiculous. It really shows a lack of pride and care for their product. I ate almost nothing on the entire flight. It is completely inexcusable for such an expensive ticket.
I got food poisoning from Borenstein chicken on a flight from JFK-SVO in November so I was not going to take any chances.
The NRT-PVG leg had a meal by a Belgian caterer that was very tasty and hit the spot.
My return flight was on CX from TPE-HKG-JFK. Thankfully, all the meals were by Hermolis and absolutely delicious. The duck was particularly impressive.

sorry for the delayed response
1- Usually any US Carrier that provides KSML uses just 1 vendor, better put usually a Carrier has a contract with a catering company that serves all of a Carriers destinations within the US. So in COs case yes Regal is what a person should expect to get no matter what airport they are flying from thats if a KSML is even offered any longer
2- UA ps flights the answer is Yes and No, UA Only serves a meal in 1st class its BOB in Y (snack boxes which may contain a couple of products that are kosher by chance, these are sold and not given out for free). On the ps flights both 1st and Biz get a meal = fly Biz or 1st on a ps flight and order the meal before T-24 and you will have a meal if you can call it that, its usually pretty bad, and since I dont want to hassle washing usually I skip on the brkfst since its french toast (3-1/2 slices). KoshAir is really TERRIBLE junk, just sometimes when Im flying in from a place where there was no food its slightly better then nothing.eg heading to Tokyo on Sun arrive Mon flying back on Weds so the way back wont be KoshAir but it will be heading over and that will be the last hot food till Weds flight back
Its great when they dont load the meal as I end up with a cert for $250-350 as a 1K. sometimes I think twice about garbbing a Bump since I wont get a meal but knowing its a KoshAir meal makes it a no-brainer I grab the Bump whenever I can.

This has nothing to do with Borenstein, its JAL and their caterers fault. the caterer shouldnt have used a meal that was expired nor should JAL have served it. As to not being cooked how is taht Borensteins fault if the FAs dont cook it properly, unless Borenstein has an employee on the flight doing the cooking
Now Ive had my share of Borenstein meals and they arent the best in the air but then again they arent the worst either. You get Only according to what your Airline is preparred to pay for a meal the least they are willing to spend = less food on the tray
last year out of BFS (Belfast) back to EWR CO served me a Hermolis meal only it turned out the entree was the side dishes to a FC meal , whose fault IMO the Caterers for not making sure what it was they were boarding for the meal, so it turned out to be the worst Hermolis meal I ever had and I dont blame Hermolis or CO for that
I agree that it is mostly JAL's fault. However, I still think that Borenstein is to blame for the raw meat. Aren't the KSMLs are cooked in advance and only warmed in-flight?

The plastic being still frozen is clearly the airline (or the FAs,) and the rest is not the fault of Borenstein. Now if the food TASTED bad, well that's another story..

So if I flew international from IAH (where they do have a meal,) it'll still be Borenstein, is what you're saying.
As for p.s. flights, Y is treated the same as domestic Y on CO? (Snacks or snack boxes for purchase..) As for F and C, is it bad because KoshAir is bad, or because UA in general doesn't have good meals on F and C p.s.? (Is the regular meal also small and crappy?)

The meal from IAH should be Regal which is better then Borenstein brand even if its made by Borenstein. Think of Wine for 1 moment Yarden,Gamla, and Galilee are all made by the same Winery yet Yarden is their top brand
The reg meals on UA are not as good in looks as COs but looks to be AOK, KoshAir is another story and besides tasting lousy and at times in plastic and not china (no big deal to me) its also very small and the roll is HaMotzei although I dont think you have to make a bracha if you try to eat a rock. The best part is the slice of apple strudel, the few pieces of sliced peaches and pear is frozen every time
Just got back from CDG on BA F and had some fantastic meals both ex-LAX and ex-CDG/LHR (not to mention the extra meal thrown in at the CCR). Definitely not disappointed -but it is still airplane food .
Can I order Kosher meals on short hops with Bangkok Airways and Vietnam Airlines?. I heard a couple of years back that bangkok Air was offering kosher meals?!

Depends on how short the flight is. I was not able to book a kosher meal on BKK-USM in "Blue Ribbon" Class on Bangkok Airways a month back
