They're under OU Israel which is officially (according to the OU) mehadrin. But "mehadrin" is a halachically meaningless term, so your mehadrin, my mehadrin, and the OU's mehadrin may all be quite different standards.

I realise OU is 'mehadrin' (whatever that means,as you said) but I was not aware the EL AL regular meals from TLV were OU certified. That must be pretty recent.

As far as I recall, that's what I've been getting. Not sure when it started though

That's good to know.I know a lot of people who don't necessarily insist of Badatz kashrus, but don't rely on regular rabbanut in Israel and are quite happy with OU.

I'd suggest they still order mehadrin the next time they fly but check the regular meal. I'll try and check next time I'm on LY, but as of now, I don't have any LY flights booked until January. But I'll make sure to check both ex-TLV and ex-EWR (which would be the same catering as ex-JFK).

ex-JFK and ex-EWR are Borenstein. The regular and SKML meals are identical, made in the same kitchen, with the same OU kashrus. The only difference is the extra double wrapping. I was also told by the EL AL Rabbi that the milk products in First Class are all cholov yisroel (I don't know about business and economy as I only asked about the regular meals in First Class).

Out of Los Angeles, the kashrut certificate specifically stated the the milk products were not חלב ישראל.

Sorry if I was not clear: I was referring to ex-NYC flights.

Wirelessly posted (LG G2: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.4.2; VS980 4G Build/KOT49I.VS98026A) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/38.0.2125.114 Mobile Safari/537.36)

I perfectly understood what you wrote; I simply pointed out that El Al's kashrut standards differ by airport, even if located in the same country.

Every KSML I've ever gotten, certainly ex-TLV has been Mehadrin except for the regular LY meal (though even that is OU mehadrin, just not other hashgachot)

I don't only eat mehadrin, but good to know in any case
I agree, hence the eyeroll, but I have the emails to prove it

Technically RGML as LY decided that Borensteins deserves their own meal code for some reason, which is a PITA when requesting meals for an entire reservation in a GDS that you have to specify by segment. SKML for the TLV-NYC segment, and RGML for the NYC-TLV segment
