LX Flights ZRH-JNB-ZRH
It seems that LX is currently offering competitive fare ex Germany to South Africa. As I haven't flown SWISS on long-haul flights, I would be interested to know more about those flights:
- what kind of catering should I expect in Y class
- what kind of inflight entertainment is available on the MD-11
- what is the best seat on that plane
Any pointers would be much appreciated and will be rewarded with a trip report :-)

Arnur if you want to see the catering I suggest you look at Airlinemeals.net (January 12th for Swiss Airlines.) An excellent idea for both short and long haul flights; Dresden to Zurich to Hong Kong. There are also other pictures.

Have you tried the SWISS Website - it's quite informative?
Swiss' own dining "promotion"
http://www.swiss.com/index/sw-op-ec-...witzerland-eco
Entertainment:
http://www.swiss.com/DE/guide_eco_jan03.pdf
Seats:
http://www.swiss.com/DE/index/sw-oc-fl-md-11.htm (the best are in rows 1 to 3!)
Personally, I'd take anything with a window away from the wing. It's one of the few day flights across Africa from Europe (ZRH-JNB- until Feb 7th) and if the weather is OK, the views (Alps, Med, Italy Elba, Corsica, Sardinia, Libya, Sahara, rainforests etc. etc.) are much better / entertaining / more interesting than any tired old flim.
You need to hurry if you want one of the cheap tickets - most appear to be gone already. (I'm leaving from Köln-Bonn CGN on 30.1 - can't wait)
