Nothing posted in this thread yet, may be worth searching for some older threads to see if this has been reported - I think the upgrade is possible but the information may be a little inaccurate now as it is older.

Worth exploring one of the other options (calling to get a ticket reprice etc) if you haven't received the email.

Sifaan welcome to FlyerTalk and especially to the QR forum. You may find the dashboard a useful tool on this forum.
You are correct when you say that G and redemption tickets do not qualify for upgrades but the three lowest ticket classes otherwise (T, O and W) do qualify.
Reading through the Wiki on this thread it is only booking classes T and O that appear on the list. This may be coincidence or it may not! Time will tell.

This thread is still in its infancy and as you can probably see there isn't masses of information at present. One thing you haven't said is what class you are currently travelling in and seeking to upgrade to - there is no information on F upgrades at the moment if you are already travelling in J.
One thing about your start points - Western Europe has many of them, and there are a couple of examples, e.g. Madrid to Doha which may give you a high level idea of what the price could look like. It's worth remembering these upgrades are not guaranteed and may not stay at the same price by the time your trip comes around.

Offer received T-7 days before 25/03/17 flight
I purchased the ticket less than 24hrs previously and did phone up to try and get to reprice entire inbound leg (CMB - LHR) immediately after booking, but was told no seats available by the agent and to ask at the airport on the day (EF said otherwise, but hey). Will try my chances with a AUP at DOH for the second leg on the day.

So here I am sitting in the London Lounge........am booked on the fully booked (J class) QR4 today.
I enquired at check-in about a paid upgrade to F to which the reply was "only BA do that, we are too good for that and it will cost you at least £5k".

I asked about cash upgrade promos at SYD and the check-in agent supervisor (pointed out by clueless check-in agent) just said that they typically take the fare difference i.e. not actually promo.
Hence, am I correct to assume that these promos are not common for these "ultralong" legs?
With multiple pax in PNR, I did not even assume getting any email offers and did not receive anything either (
