Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which is ? Hopefully above 50% . Seeing EK added in a A380 on the DXB-JNB sector recently, it is possible , on a side note i have had no luck with getting aircrafts i have wanted to fly over the last year , as an example i flew up to JNB to fly the A380 then got switched to a 777 grrrr !

savekenny I think you are being optimistic in expecting Qsuites in November.
Because DOH-JFK-DOH takes 28 hours 15 minutes take off to landing three aircraft are required for a daily service. At the moment Qsuites are flying DOH-LHR-DOH only. A CDG rotation also appears to be scheduled. So 4 to 5 Qsuite aircraft will be required to service these routes. But QR have only ONE at the moment! A second Qsuite aircraft is expected to be delivered shortly. Currently there are NO aircraft being retrofitted!

Its confirmed effective 23SEP that QR41/42 rotation will be fitted with QSuites. As with the current QR7/8 plans, at least one flight per month will not operate with QSuite aircraft for maintenance purposes.
As a side note, there are 6 77W to be delivered between now and Feb 2018 which will all be fitted with them - No word on the next planned rotation, however. The first 35K (350-1000) is to be delivered in Jan 2018 and 2nd in Feb which will be delivered with QSuites

Flame3601 if you insist on a percentage then less than 1%! You have seen the expected deliveries of 8 aircraft in the next 6+ months. Nothing firm just 'expected'! The commercially most productive/prestigious routes will get the Qsuites first. Despite the importance to you I doubt that JNB is on that list.
By the way it is nice to see that other airlines have equipment problems! If you skim this forum you could get the impression that QR is the only airline with these problems. It may have one of the largest numbers of aircraft swaps but it is not just a QR problem!

Some other airlines have the same problem as well, for sure.
Emirates should have less aircraft swaps with just two aircraft types in the entire fleet, but then have more difficulty in managing the capacity they have given the lack of flexibility inherent in their fleet strategy.
I think the reason why QR tends to receive criticism is not the frequent aircraft swaps, it's more the inconsistency in their J product. Of course people like to fly the A380 or A350, but I am sure the disappointment when swapped to a 777 or an A330 would be less if QR had the same seats across their fleet in business class.

Q Suites Seat selection Open to change once booked?
Booked QR008 for wife and i Feb 18 Qatar auto allocated window seats, all centre seats blocked, three days after booking went to MMB and all seats were open, clicked on change seats and moved us to the two forward facing seats D & G.
Felt that although the DB idea is nice, its a day flight and the two screens so close to each other could be distracting

What are the chances of the Q suite on the A350 BOS -DOH Oct 30 ? Where do I check this ? Flying out of BOS is already a detour to try out the J seat in a QR A350 !Thank you.

The first A350-1000 is set be delivered late this year (according to AAB that's what Airbus promised), but that might easily slip to next year.
The only other plane to have the Qsuites is the 773 right now and as discussed here already its Paris starting 23rd Sept followed by New York for which at least 2, more likely 3 more 777 will be required. These will not be delivered so soon.
Plus, I haven't heard of any plans to change the Boston A359 to an A35K or 773. Nevertheless, the A350 J seat is great and you will probably not find a better J seat on any other airline anyways

Any truth to the rumours of issues with the seat production?

How close is 1EF towards the galley and lavatory? Thinking of booking it for party of 2 but not sure if I should pick the first row.
Additionally, is the overhead bin available for use or are they blocked? (sometimes reserved for oxygen/crew equipment)
