Flight time change AMS-DOH

Hi,

I am flying AMS-DOH-HND v.v. and my outbound flight from AMS has changed from QR276 (dep 22:35) to QR274 (dep 16:40) - 6 hours earlier. I presume this is because the QR276 flight has been removed from the schedule on this date.

This introduces a significantly longer layover in Doha, as well as the earlier flight departure being most inconvenient.

I had this notification through MyFlights, I have not been into the booking or accepted any changes as yet.

What are my options here given there is no better flight time available from AMS? I read on a post something about QR allowing change of airport within 500 mile radius - could I change to a LHR departure?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can change, just call QR. In my case the agent suggested a CDG departure or even flying me from AMS to VIE but I was able to change it to LHR.

Does anyone know if by October the QR7/QR8 flights will be the new QSuite as it's B773 operated?

exeu2017 welcome to Flyertalk and to the QR forum.

In the case of schedule changes of more than two hours QR will permit changes of origin up to 500 miles from the original departure airport provided it gives a better (shorter) connection.

Thank you. It's only the first sector (outbound) that's impacted by the time change, will they allow me to change the final sector (inbound) to enable me to start and finish at the same airport?

Data point: changed to LHR on both first and last sectors after consulting with supervisor, very little persuasion needed - got QR7/8 for both sectors. Very happy - even changed the outbound leg to 1 day earlier!

Hopefully the Q Suite sticks on this flight between now and October.

Only minor point is I'm stuck with only middle seats available for revised sector 2 DOH-HND on A358. I understand row 1 is reserved until 'check in' - when do you think it would be possible to try and snag one of those seats, at physical check-in at LHR? When I arrive at DOH for transit?

Thanks again.

Both of my AMS-DOH legs have been cancelled as well. I've already bought JFK-LHR-AMS positioning flights on BA for my 4 eligible BA flights so I'm not looking to change to the LHR flight.

Inbound, my connection time is almost 7 hours now. I assume they will let me change to the DOH-NRT flight which would make the connection time a more reasonable 2 hours 30 minutes. Going from A350 to 77L would be a bummer but more time in Japan is more important to me.

Outbound, my connection time improved from 10 hours to 2 hours, but I would like to take the opportunity to spend more time in Japan. How many days back are they usually willing to allow you to change for a schedule change like this?

exeu2017 the first row of almost all QR cabins is where the bassinets are located and the entire row is blocked. On rare occasions the unused seats are released to passengers just before OLCI opens, even rarer is that they may be opened at any time prior to OLCI opening and rarest of all that they are never opened but left empty. The usual is that they are opened when airport check-in starts. They are on a first come first served basis so you need to be very near the front of the check-in queue in order to have a chance of grabbing one.

That's roughly what I thought, however the timing for the 'when airport check-in starts' is what eludes me.

For an outstation I'd expect airport check-in to start at T-3 hours and consequently you'd have to be there mega early.

However this is a DOH departure and I'd expect, especially for premium/status pax, check-in to open earlier?

My journey looks as follows:

Mon 16:00 dep LHR
Tue 00:45 arr DOH
Tue 07:00 dep DOH etc

When and where would I be best placed to try and snag one? E.g. I wouldn't mind turning up 3 hours early to LHR if it meant early access to the subsequent sector's seats.

My return flight (DOH-AMS) just got cancelled, my new connection only has <4h instead of >11h transit time at DOH (love it). I'll be in AMS 7-8h earlier than planned. Does that also qualify for a free flight change or does the 2h rule only apply to earlier departures/later arrivals?

It certainly should qualify you to change flight. Arriving 7-8h earlier could be the difference between having to book an extra night at a hotel.

exeu2017 Officially check-in at DOH for F and J opens three hours before departure. Unofficially it opens 2-3 hours earlier.

When you check-in at origin you check in to the 'live' check-in system not the OLCI copy. If DOH has released any front row seats by then you will be able to select them. If not then ask the check-in staff to note your request so that when check-in actually starts at DOH your request can be reviewed and possibly granted.

By all means wait until DOH to ask but be prepared for there being no front row seats available by that time.

Our connection on the way back form HND-DOH-AMS was reduced form 9h to 2h. Just tried to leverage the schedule change to get home directly rather than spending another night in AMS. No success with the call center (US number). Should I try again?

Yeah try again. I called earlier today and I was able to move my inbound date (she said +-3 days) as well as change from HND-DOH-AMS to HND-DOH-CPH.
