I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask but my wife and I have an American Airlines award booked on QR flying JNB-DOH-PHL. Our layover in DOH is about 20 hours. We're flying in Y. I called the QR office in Philadelphia and the woman who answered said we do not qualify for the transit accommodation services because it's an award ticket booked through AA and that service is only available if the ticket is booked with QR. Is that accurate or should I HUCA?

It sounds right in respect of no transit accommodation. I would be surprised if QR provided STPC for QR-issued award tickets.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like we'll eat the ~$110 in visa fees to experience Doha for a day.

Has anyone asked QR to exchange the Oryx Rotana for a discount voucher at the Airport Hotel ;-) ?
Paid for the airside hotel and it was well worth every penny. There is also a reduced rate for an 8 hr stay.

i'm also curious, as I didn't see a way to book specific number of hours on their web page, which only asked dates of checkin and out.

The procedure is that you book a full day and then contact them if your stay is shorter than 24 hours. They will then send an amendment form. They give a discounted rate in a couple of bands depending on length of stay. The reduction isn't huge and I think only available for stays less than 13 hours.

I always wonder why they do not just post these rates on their website vs. having you email them to get them. Seems so inefficient.

Thank you for the pricelist, very informative. I've luckily never had the need for one of these stays, but I find them to be.. rather expensive?
