QR equipment changes are quite common, although not usually on the A380 slots.

It is common for a 787 to be subbed by a 777, or by an A330. The A380 routes from LHR tend to be quite well loaded, so it is a surprise that there could be be a change.

Have a look at Manage My Booking on the QR website to find out whether your aircraft has changed.

Noticed QR7 into LHR was a 777 which I thought is supposed to change to a 787? That's according to one website.

Dunno what "one" website is.

But the schedule currently shows it as a 77W until 31AUG15, 788 thereafter.

I am gutted as me and my partner were flying from LHR-DOH on an A380 in November and I just received a notification via My Flight that it has changed to an A330! I was looking forward to going on the A380.

I had booked QR2 for Feb 16 that's also been changed from the A380 to an A330 overnight.

This makes sense with the QR15/16 A319 going to a 787 at the same time. With the 2 LHR-DOH evening flights going to a A330 plus a 787 that's roughly the same seat capacity as a A380 and A319 although a few less business seats.

Where are Qatar going to be using their A380's over the winter?

By September they'll have 6 A380's with a seventh due late 2015.

With only one A380 flight per day to LHR and CDG plus twice daily to BKK that leaves 2 (later 3) unused aircraft.

Are they planning to launch the A380 onto new routes in the autumn?

That's a massive game changer. I haven't had any notification and flying on the 30th September. Is that too early for the changes? I would assume they wouldn't chuck on the old config A330s at least?

Unhappy

(Long time lurker finally posting)

My first trip with QR coming up and was really looking forward to it based on what I've read on here. Recently booked QR2 in mid-Dec which was meant to be a 380 not long ago but is now listed as a 333. Must say, I'm fairly disappointed as I understand the 333 isn't equipped with horizontal flat-beds in J for this night flight. One of the reasons why I picked it!

Starting to wish I stayed with CX as the prices were identical for this LHR- KUL return trip in J.

I was always under the impression that these flights have an aircraft assigned to them only as a suggestion, and subs are very common, either downgauge or upgauge, depending on whats available, load, etc, because of the short turnaround for these flights.

Does anyone know what the economy is like in the A330-300?

From looking at the seat plans its version 1 and they have allocated us two window seats on the left of the plane so on the plus side, it will just be the two of us on our own.

Whats the age, entertainment etc like on these aircraft?

LOL ... maybe those planes are taken out to install the super duper business class that HE mentioned at the time EY introduced the residence.
