My flight for 24 November QR2 has also changed to the A330. I called QR and asked to be changed to the earlier flight which is the A380.

The only reason I found out is my travel agent called me. There was no notification whatsoever from QR.

aircraft changes

The question now is what will they fly with the A388 as of October? Resulting that one A388 will get free from LHR...

Looks as though the QR 9/10 rotation will be served by the A380 instead of QR 1/2 - just been looking at a few options for December.

A significant upgrade over the A340.

The only thing for certain is that the aircraft used LHR-DOH will continue to change frequently as Qatar manage demand, supply and yields.

The winter timetable now shows a significant increase in capacity over the 6 daily flights especially in economy on the route during the quieter winter months which they will need to fill. The positive should be lots of competitive fares on offer.

You book your flight and take your chance on the aircraft finally operating the your flight. Overtime the chances of getting an old style seat should reduce as more new aircraft are added to the fleet and older aircraft receive seat upgrade programmes.

Meanwhile assume the worst and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. If you want certainty of aircraft don't book to fly with Qatar.

Interesting that the 80 gets the morning slot which is the same as EY. I went for QR in the end because they had the evening 80 slot which worked very well for a working day. Is the intention that the 80 serves as a business networking flight and sleep not the priority? It would make sense with the lounge? I'm guessing it is not so much that but getting the best pax usage and getting as many pax as possible connected through DOH.

The change is due to QR finally getting the slots they need to have a unified schedule on the morning arrivals into LHR, this flight (QR009) needs the A380 before QR001 as it is the only flight at that time and caters to a lot of connections on both ends. QR001 on the other hand has another flight just after it QR015 which means it can operate with smaller aircraft.

For people booked on QR001/2 and now getting the A330-300, have a look at this:

N1rotate, do you know if the 333 have been or are being refurbished? Personally I don't need the newest product, I just want the horizontal flat bed! I would be happy with the refurbished 332 or 777s! The boarding pass and flight number on the links suggest that 333 has been. I'm confused.... Maybe I'll do as some have suggested; See on the day and don't worry about trying to guess!

I'm also booked on QR2 in November and just figured out that the plane has been switched to a 333. Very disappointing as this is an overnight flight Anyone knows if this a333 features the new business class?

So QR9 is the most in demand flight into LHR? likewise ex LHR for QR10? My guess would be the mid afternoon flight?

koroleon,
In November the A333 will most probably have a full flat seat in 2-2-2 configuration.

wavery83,

QR003/4 is usually the flight highest in demand ex-LHR, but it already has the A380.

I've been on QR1/2 3 times in the past fortnight and it was packed to the rafters on all 6 flights, but I guess that's just high summer.

But I've got used to the changes now, had one flight go from 777 to 787 to 320 to 330... go figure!

I was just printing out my itin for a FRA-DOH-BKK out and back next week and noticed that QR has changed both my A350 flights (QR67/68) to A330-200s. No notice of change from QR.

I was taking this trip essentially to try out J on the 359, so I'll be calling later this afternoon to cancel. What a disappointment.

ChrisKSDF - if you are expecting QR to waive the cancellation fees and give you a full refund, previous reports indicate you may be in for a (bad) surprise.

Nevertheless do keep us posted of how you get on with them. ^
