Possible downgrade

Hello,

Bit of a funny one.

I'm flying from Norway to Bangkok later this month, business class.

I'm a little concerned at how busy the J cabin is.. not many left at all on the seat reservation page.

What is the procedure if I, or my colleagues get downgraded on the OSL-DOH leg in terms of compensation?

(My flights all show as confirmed with the green tick)

Thanks,

I believe that you will be OK, overbooking the J cabin has yet to happen,
Please check in online as early as possible. Keep in mind that some seats may be blocked, for operational / security matters. I believe you will be fine.

Not sure if the previous comment was referring to specific flights, but I was recently downgraded from F on QR because of overbooking.

But I agree that everything will almost certainly be ok.

May I ask what they offered for compensation (assuming it was paid F)?

J on same flight plus price difference or F on later flight.

That seems alright, even though i would've imagined they give you something "on top" of what they owe you anyway? Did you get asked if you were ready to give up your seat for this compensation, or were you merely informed that you are in J now?

not sure whether EC261/2004 applies to Norway (of if Norway adopted it), but EC261/2004 would require QR to pay back 75% of the total ticket costs.

That's my concern re:EU261. I've also heard horror stories about QR customer service.

Was the offer forthcoming or did you have to fight for it?

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean overbooking from OSL hasn't happened at all?

This was the offer after I was insisted on speaking to a supervisor.

So, technically, I suppose this would count as "forthcoming" but I was visibly unhappy with the situation and the first agent I spoke to (prior to the supervisor) had nothing to offer.

OP, don't you have a seat assigned?

I hadn't flown QR for 7 years, made a booking and got window seats assigned in the reservation confirmation based on my old ff preferences in their reservation system. Not sure you can select a seat whilst booking.

I see seat assigned in manage my bookings and a modify button down the page.

I am less than 36h from my return flight and see nearly all of the seats (J and Y) taken or blocked, whilst yesterday expertflyer showed lots of unassigned seats. Anyone knows how this works?

I never got downgraded....
