359s now starting on 11MAY15; 3rd daily flight delayed to 01JUN
According to GDS schedule as reported by Airlineroute.net, the 359 on the DOH-SIN route is now moved up to 11MAY15 as follows:
[D = daily]
As you can see on 11MAY they're keeping the 359 for 6 hours in SIN so I presume they will have press/PR events on that day.
Other updated information (from me):
Code:
QR944 DOH0225 – 1515SIN 359 (11MAY15 only) QR938 DOH0700 – 1950SIN 359 D (12MAY15 onwards) QR939 SIN2120 – 2355DOH 359 D
As you can see on 11MAY they're keeping the 359 for 6 hours in SIN so I presume they will have press/PR events on that day.
Other updated information (from me):
- The third daily flight is now delayed to 01JUN15 (with a 788).
- The second flight to switch to 359 is on 16JUL15/17JUL15 return
- The third flight to switch to 359 is on 16AUG15/17AUG15 return, at which point SIN will be only served by 359s.

QR938 A350 to SIN Starting Early in May??
I have been just trying to look for upgrade availability to asia and came across Singapore showing QR938 in May already? Is this true or it is still served by the 787?
Im looking at 18th May and it shows as A350 DOH-SIN already. any news or confirmations? As the website does state it starts in June.
*confused*
Thanks everyone!

Fly the A350 last week on this route great little flight. But I wonder why SIN has been identified as the perfect destination to fly it thrice daily? Flight length? No first class business?!
It's not like QR have any disdain for flying multiple aircraft types to any destination (smirks at LHR).

Sam Bee,
The A350 being a new type with only 4 aircraft in service doesn't have qualified engineers or spares at many destinations around the world such as the A320 or A330 for example.
The reasons why the first 5 flights are concentrated on FRA and SIN as opposed to spread for example to five different destinations are:
- FRA and SIN are both home to large Airbus spare distribution centres.
- Its more cost effective and practical to have a technical team qualified on the A350 at FRA and SIN handling 2 and 3 flights a day respectively than to have multiple teams spread across many destinations handling 1 flight day.

But wonder why there is no attempt to standardise LHR / CDG ops.
i.e. next week,
Paris sees the 380, 333, 346, 77W
Heathrow sees 333, 346, 388, 77W, 787 & 319 (forget about the 319, that's obvious). And i've been in the 332 into LHR fairy recently.
I'm just surprised there is no attempt to standardise these. Not complaining though, I quite like the LHR lottery!
