Worth $150 to upgrade from QR J to QR F?
I have a segment currently booked on USDM in QR J from DOH-LHR, and while checking routes on KVS tonight, noticed an opening in QR F.
Is it worth $150 to upgrade to QR F? The food differences seem slight, and the only other difference I can think of is that QR F offers private BMW transfers. Anything else?
I'm currently scheduled to fly on the all-J A319, which also looks like a very nice experience.
On the other hand, the flight isn't until Feb '15 and according to the schedule, may be on the new A380, in which case the $150 is a no-brainer. But given the repeated A380 delays, I'm not sure I can count on being able to try the new A380.
Thanks!

to me it s a rhetorical question
i don t think thehre will be any bmw trasnfer as there are jetties at the new airport (probably in LON)
but
f class lounge in doh is great
food is very good on board
all in all the whole F experience is great

USD 150 = the change fee + the fare difference
Great value - well worth it - go for it! ^
USD 150 = the change fee only, with an additional fare or mileage element to pay
Probably not worth it, unless you are sitting on an absolute stack of miles.

I hope the to-be-opened Al Safwa F lounge at HIA will be a much better experience than the Al Mourjan J lounge.

What F lounge? Just flew IKA-DOH-CDG and in the new terminal I was told the F lounge isn't finished yet, so F passengers were mixed with J. Additionally the ground handling in transit was nil. For $150 I'd take F just to not have anyone next to me, but the QR experience has gone downhill over the last few years across the board, from decreased attention paid to pax to cheap eyemasks.

In order to rebook into 1st class, it will be necessary to cancel the entire itinerary and rebook it, so will be $150 plus $50 plus you will need to be able to rebuild the itinerary
See the OW thread on the US forum for recent experience with being unable to change class without cancel/rebook
I do not think it is worth the risk of not being able to get the whole itinerary back , so would not do it unless you can build an entire new itinerary before cancelling the old one

The last time I flew QR (August 2012), was J, and they gave out great eye masks. They even handed out a small kit with masks and socks on the short DOH-GYD flight (nothing this year on IKA-DOH). This year in F, the ones they gave us were Y quality.

I flew J last week to Japan and the eyemask I got (in the bag with socks and hair brush) was mostly the same design as the one I had in previous years - apart from the print (and maybe the material) of the inner lining which is now white-grey, matching the new PJ's secondary material (e.g. inside collar).
Are the F flights you refer to short-haul F?
