I looked on-line on qatarairways.com yesterday and the non-stop services were available for booking. This is great news indeed!

Although I see today they have removed the new non-stop services from qatarairways.com, obviously someone jumped the gun!

For those contemplating using QR to get from ORD or JFK to CPT, the timing of the new nonstop is extremely problematic. The flights from ORD and JFK arrive in DOH between 17:30 and 18:20 (according to the season) and the new nonstop to CPT departs DOH at 01:25, a transfer requiring a stop greater than 7 hours but below the 8 hour minimum for a carrier provided hotel room.

Good news indeed!!

I could never fathom how Emirates can put 2 daily flights to Cape Town and best QR can match, was 4 flights a week AND that with a stop-over in Johannesburg! Not convenient!

Timing is good too - no waste of a leave day to travel.

Lets hope they re-appear for booking soon!

HKT (Phuket) is going non-stop too. Daily flights on A330 with similar timings to the CPT flight. Its already bookable on the GDS.

Does this mean there will be less flights to JNB? I regularly fly from port elizabeth via JNB, so like the fact that there are sometimes two flights a day to jnb.

No. There will still be 10 flights a week to JNB.

Does anyone know if they have the new Business Class seating on this A330-300 on the direct flights to CPT?

The CPT route is currently and will also be on the non-stop service on a 787, not A330-300

Up until the 30th November it will be the A330-300. I just wondered what Business Class product will be used on this route until the 787 takes over?

russellrst - apologies, you are 100% correct. When my November flight was originally changed from via JNB to CPT non-stop they advised it would be on 787 and then now when rechecking I see it is now showing A330-300. I sure hope it is with the new seating.

If you refer to this link:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...ays-fleet.html

You will know all the seating in the fleet.

The A330-300 are not refurbished--but they have lie-flat 170 degree angled beds.

Just wondering if pajamas/sleepsuits are distributed on the CPT-DOH flight. It's a reasonably lengthy flight, but it's a part-day/part-night flight. If not, I'll bring along a pair to change into.

I flew out late Oct and it was still via JNB so we got the pjs - I returned on the non-stop - again with pjs - but understand that the return is a night flight, so....not sure. DOH-JFK is a full daytime flight and gets them (although longer) so maybe..
