scnzzz,

Wow, thanks so much for the very thoughtful response. Your detailed reply is really helpful, I feel I have a much better sense of what that short haul experience is likely to be. Looks like I'll keep the QR booking and most likely cancel the TK one.

Interesting your parents returned to EDI as I am today currently looking to do a long weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday to Edinburgh, early flight and hotel planning. I was there once twenty years ago and want to return with my wife. I assume your folks were retuning home there, rather than transiting, as EDI isn't really a big transit airport.

Thanks again for your really helpful reply, very much appreciated.

No worries, my pleasure.

FWIW the folks were going home, but EDI was as close to ABZ as they could get on a one-stop itinerary

Edinburgh is a fantastic place to visit - although weather may be a bit iffy in late November. If doing the distillery tour, I recommend Edradour - a tiny distillery about a couple of hours from Edinburgh, but very good malts, a great tasting experience, and they are small enough that they show you the actual gear and facilities they use to make Scotch (unlike Glenfiddich where they show you a video).

Once again, thanks for the awesome info! The Edradour tour sounds great and I'm not bothered by the weather...Scotland has character and that's part of it in my book. Plus I figure Edinburgh should be decorated nicely for Christmas by then and will have a nice buzz in the air even with less than ideal weather. Thanks again!

You may still get the non-refurbished aircraft.

Good news though that the non-refurbished A330-200 have started leaving the fleet.

In addition to the original 7 refurbished A330-200s, additional A332 have been refurbished. This time the seating is similar to the new A333/A346 seat.

There are now routes that almost consistently get refurbished aircraft such MAN.

I just flew on A7-AEG, refurbished 333 with horizontal J

Unless in row 1, space for feet is ridicously small (at least for window pairs) forging any person taller not than 160cm to cross feet to squeeze them in.

Is there any way to check if my plane is going to be a Version 2 or Version 3 A330-300 just by looking at the seatmap?

Thanks!

Biz tom 8/11 LHR-DOH QR006. Now that QR005 has left Doha, I was able to check the reg which is A7-AEM which is a new config according to the sticky. ^

However, I was just wondering for the future if there is any way to know beforehand. If tomorrow's plane was old I would have just switched to QR010 but would have had to pay a $50USD change fee.

Thanks!

Well, unless things have changed in the last 2 weeks (see my earlier posts (starting at #73 on this thread) from late July)...no new biz seat. Recliner.

At a minimum this is true for NBO and JRO. I cannot speak to DAR.

Search is your friend

Hi all.

Is it possible to tell from the 'manage my booking' seat map whether the A330-200 on my HKG flight has the new (full flat) or old J seats?

Thanks.

So difficult to read the wiki?
332v1: horizontal J WiFi. A7-ACA,B,C,D,E,F,H. To distinguish from other A332, economy goes up to row 41.
