Thanks N1Rotate and InternationalLiving - those seem fair guesses to me - will be very happy if there are eventually 2 on the LHR route!!

Hmm. I just clicked the link again and it's now showing as A346...?

Indeed. Just did the same, and saw an A346.

The excitement about the A380 was so big that it led me to do something that I have learnt never to do: trust any information from "Aeroports de Paris".

VH-RMD,

Thanks for the info. I checked DOH-LHR-DOH and for now the restricted and semi-flexible fares in J/F on the A380 are higher than on the other services.

Business class are rows 10-12 and 14-22 inclusive. Your seat is in the centre block. Its 1-2-1 configuration. A E-F K.

I have an economy booking which is now on the A380. Our seat selections are showing as 11A/11B (unconfirmed), which are obviously now not economy seats. I'm not able to change them online though. May have to try phoning up - if there's any possibility of snagging an upper deck seat, that would be nice!

EDIT: In fact, now our seats are showing up as 44E and 45B on BA.com, but 11A/11B on Qatar's site.

Give then a call by all means. I don't know why the Manage My Booking facility no longer allows change of seats. The economy upper deck layout is mainly 2-4-2 and runs from 24-32 inclusive, but, for some reason, rows 29 and 32 only have the middle block, and are in effect 0-4-0.

Get out of then ASAP. They are middle seats! A-B-C D-E-F-G H-J-K.

Phoned up and we've now got a pair of seats together on the upper deck.

A few minutes ago I had to re-book a flight later in the year and by chance selected QR004 on the outbound journey. I was quite surprised to see A388 on the booking confirmation page. Unfortunately it appeared the fare had gone up by appr. 100 quids. I also wanted to have a few extra hours at the new airport to snap a few photos with my DSLR so got stuck on the A346 on the outbound.
Nevertheless, my return will be on QR003 so I the pictures from the flying whale will follow as well.

Also, dealing with the Priority call center is a bliss. ^

My only remaining complaint is that I can't spend my QCredits.

Great news - can't wait to fly it! I do wish a little that they hadn't picked on the only B777 LHR service to swap it for though... Ah well, hopefully the A380 will be even better!

Given it's the busiest flight of the day, and often overbooked, I guess that makes sense, even if it isn't the most "premium" flight of the day (that usually being QR 001/002, at least based on timing, flight number, and usual standard of the cabin crew)...
