Don't have that officially confirmed yet, only a media advisory from Airbus & Qatar as per above.

From AUSBT:

Two more superjumbos are expected to join the fleet next month, with Qatar's first wave of commercial A380 flights fanning out to Paris, London and New York.

The second A380 airframe will be used for QR39/40 apparently in November.

Looking forward to the vip unveiling on Thursday the 18th! I'm curious to see the interior changes.

Just an FYI to keep the group in the loop: media tour of the A380's is done, delivery ceremony is done, but everything from the tour & press conference is under embargo until 6am Hamburg time (GMT+2) on Wednesday Sept 17th...

Good to hear. But is the AC still in Airbus factory or has already flown to Doha?

There were in fact two QR A380s parked outside the delivery centre for the ceremony; the fly-away happens tomorrow, Sept 18th (we were previously told approx 8am local time).

I was told there will be a surprise during the high profile ceremony! a double bang! (which now I assume 2 A380s) will join the fleet.

In addition the delays to the A380s is because of the interior manufacturer Zodiac who did not finish installing all the interior products due to high demand.

Therefore, we owe somebody an apology AAB (not really)

Embargo now lifted:

Qatar Airways’ first Airbus A380 will make its commercial debut on October 10 as the flagship flight QR001 to London, airline CEO Akbar Al Baker revealed at the delivery ceremony for its first Airbus A380 in Hamburg.
Paris will also see a superjumbo within three weeks of the London inaugural, Baker said, although he refused to confirm New York as the third city on the A380 route map.

Like seriously

“The delays are not from Airbus, the delay was caused by Qatar because of our very stringent demand for additional quality”
