FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: toothy
This Wiki contains a summary of the latest reports from forum members.
Please feel free to add to it, including if this just means updating the date to confirm that the previous information is still valid.

If you don't have Wiki editing rights, or don't know how to edit the wiki please post an update in the thread below. Please include, for each flight
  • Your flight number (IMPORTANT!), and route, and if your flight wasn't recent, which month you flew
    • Amenity Kit - none / Short-haul / Normal Long Haul
      • Pyjamas - none / Normal Grey PJs / White Company PJs
        • Slippers - none / provided

Amenity Kits.
The BRICS amenity kits were made available from the start of 2017, taking over from the previous Armani kits. See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...nity-kits.html. Also http://lux-traveller.com/2017/qatar-...menity-kit.htm
Note that there are two versions of the amenity kit - a long-haul one, and a slimmed down one for regional flights. They are available for J/F passengers on regional and long-haul flights. They will usually be offered to you between boarding and take-off.

In Autumn 2017 we have had QR offering some autumnal updates #723 and Press Release to the amenity kits
And in October 17 all BRICS kits turned pink for Breast Cancer Awareness #742
From November 17 the kits are Blue for boys and Yellow for girls (#796) with apparently no difference in the male/female contents (#833)

Pyjamas.
New White Company pyjamas were announced in early 2017. See http://www.qatarairways.com/english_...e_whitecompany.
Up until autumn 2017 the White Company PJs were still a rarity, and appeared to be reserved for F passengers, J passengers in QSuites or A380s. However, as of October 2017 there are increasing reports of White Company PJs turning up in normal J cabins which might mean the Grey unbranded PJs are now on their way out of circulation, although in November there were still plenty of reports of the old grey PJs being handed out (#821). The White Company PJs come with slippers in the package which have been observed (#796) to not be as good quality as the slippers that used to be given out separately
Pyjamas are typically available to J/F passengers on long-haul flights that involve some night time flying. They will usually be offered to you between boarding and take-off.

Slippers.
If you receive the new White Company PJs the slippers are included within the package even when flying in J and hence will now usually be received when the crew gives you your PJs. With the old grey PJs the slippers were separate and reserved for the longest flights; they were usually pre-delivered and stashed in your seat drawer or storage bin.

As always with QR, your feedback and experience is key in helping other future passengers to set their expectations correctly so please contribute!

No offence but I wish the plane had left without J and F passengers ... it would've made interesting headline.

I wonder if it is a function of load factor? Mum and dad were in F on QR831 which is a day flight (the rest of us in J - hard to justify paying for 5 in F). They were the only 2 passengers in F. Mum asked for PJ and was given with the usual caveat that we normally don't give out PJ but here's one for you, etc.

Probably harder to accommodate when there are 7 passengers in F?

I was in no rush [had 5.5 hours connection in CDG] - so yes, would've been interesting to sit there and watch plane push back

Possibly, but still disappointing...

QR wish they had that problem!

In my multiple F journeys (probably 25 long-haul legs over the past 12 months), I have never been in F with more than 4 other passengers!

More often than not, I am the only F passenger. I have an upcoming trip to BKK, from CDG, and on every leg, I am the sole F passenger. ExpertFlyer indicates that QR have only sold 1 F ticket on the legs, so it's not a case of other passengers not selecting seats.

I maintain my stance - Pjamas are always available, but sometimes they are not offered.

Morning flight to much, no amenity kit given. Talked to the service manager and it's a new policy. Cost cutting is evident from the downsizing of menu options. Very different experience from one year ago on the same flight.

It would help this thread to indicate flight times.

Apparently, based on other postings they are not given on daytime flights...assume your flight is daytime?

To be frank, whether the OP states the flight time or not is irrelevant. Furthermore, his question was answered a while back up-thread - so really no need to quote an old post.

We know the official line, and the rule is simple - if your flight is a daytime flight, you will not be offered pjamas (even in F).

While pjamas are always available in F, they may not be proactively offered and it is down to the decision of the CSD whether an exception will be made.

An interesting, if not unsurprising, development. The J amenity kit is too good for J, and QR now realise that.

In terms of the menu, it is an easy place to cost-cut - or perhaps an easy place to offer value for money.

Currently they offer exceptional value for money. If there is an adjustment in terms of service offered, then QR probably feel it is better done than increasing their prices.

Amenity Kit and Pyjamas

On the way to Paris now flying first class on the A380. Free wifi for f pax. I asked the cabin manager and csm for the pajamas and was told they they only give it on night flights. Was told by the csm that they were not even loaded.

Assuming, based on your post timing, that you were on QR39, I took the same route 2 days ago.

Pjamas were not actively offered by the crew (no surprise), but when I spoke to the CSD, she advised they were available (as I have always maintained).

Haha I won't deny the fact that the CSD recognised me, and indeed I her.

That being said, I have encountered numerous CSD's that I do not know (because QR have ramped up the number of staff that are doing their A380 training), and have been told the same information - namely that pjamas are not offered on day-flights, but they are available and can be offered if a specific request is made.

Unfortunately, I had the same answer as jms_uk on QR F CDG-HIA when I asked: pyjamas not available. Confirmed by the purser.

I don't agree: many airlines offer better J amenity kits than QR (AZ, QF, GA, JL, etc), including some key competitors such as TK and EK (on flights where they offer them). Sure, some other airlines like BA have downgraded theirs over the year but QR proudly bills itself as a 5* airline and tries to make the difference on quality of product and service.

I personally also regret the old QR eye masks which were excellent and have been replaced by a pointless alternative.

PS: note: one of the posts above mentions that slippers are only given out on Japan routes. in fact they are also handed out on ultra long haul such as Australia routes.

You must be Yes I was on the QR39 yday and the FA who thought she wld do me a favor searched for the pjs but did not find any. She then realized that the return flight is also a day flight so maybe they stopped loading the pjs. Well I guess I'd book a night flite in the future. I really think their pjs are one of d nicest
