Thanks much. Just wondering if there was a way to find out which ship QF uses each day. On United, I could go to a cargo website to get the ship number (to see which ships had beds and which had not been reconfigured) and wondered if there was a way to do that on QF as the flight date approaches.

Note that Qantas does not operate any 3-class aircraft anymore. All 747's are either 4-class (F, J, W, Y) or 2-class (J, Y). So any time a flight is sold as J, W, Y, (such as QF15/16), it is either operated by a 2-class aircraft with W passengers seated in Skybeds, or its operated by a 4-class aircraft with some J passengers getting F seats, W passengers getting Skybeds and some Y passengers getting W seats.
So someone is generally a winner in the seating lottery on these flights. Always good for W passengers, sometimes good for select lucky J and Y passengers.

Looking for some help from the Qantas experts.
I am again flying QF15/16 on 29 Jul/12 Aug, seeing as how the government is too cheap to let me fly business I am stuck in the back (economy K??). Prior to getting my booking I was thinking about paying for the upgrade to PE to make the trip a little more bearable; I checked on Qantas' website and they are offering PE on both flight.
Once I received my booking I chose my seats and I managed to get 26C for QF15, this shows as the bulkhead on a 2 class 747, but with PE being sold I thought it would be a 4 class.
Can anyone confirm the version being used for QF15 on the 29th and QF16 on the 12th of Aug?? Am I going to luck into a PE seat or are the PE's getting J class seats?
Thanks again!

Can't look at a "PE" seatmap using qantas.com until an upgrade is granted.
However, if W/T/R is being sold in the flights and WHY starts at row 26 then definitely you have two class configurations.
In this case, PE is generally sold for the row 23/24 skybeds.

QF15 on the 29th, and QF16 on the 12th are both 2-class, with PE using the skybeds in row 23+24.

I was on QF 16 on 31 July. For months, it had been showing the 4-class seat map, so I had 2E/2F for Mrs CO FF and me. I checked that as late as 6pm LA time Friday...
Saturday evening, when I went to do OLCI, I found that the seatmap was the 2-class 744.
But, QF had re-assigned us to 16J/16K. ^ (I'm OWE -- AA EXP; Mrs CO FF is merely OWR -- AA GLD. We were on AA awards.)

New reconfigured B747?
I know this is an older thread but hope to get some answers since Qantas just announced to deploy the reconfigured B747 between Brisbane and Los Angeles starting in October, operating three return services per week.
We are leaving LAX to BNE on Nov 12 and would like to know what are the chances if we will be able to get the new configuration with new business class seats and entertaiment system?

The news to deploy the reconfigured B744 just annoced few days ago so I don't know how fast will the new seat map reflect in the system? If I can know the correct seat map for the new configuration, then I can see if we are boarding on the plane with new business (even through Qanta may switch the plane last minute).
Edit: I think I understand what you mean by looking in Zone A. Right now Zone A shows 4 rows and the new configuration will only show 3 rows. Is that correct?
