Exclamation Jetstar website and call centre will close for 2 days & 3 nights

According to an email

both jetstar.com website and their call centre will be down from 5pm AEDT today (6th February) until Monday morning (planned end of outage for 4am AEDT 9th February)

as computer systems are being switched over, check in will be affected [and flights may be running late]

urgent/last minute ticket changes can only be done at the airport ticket counters, and any payments can only be by cash or eftpos

Just like what happens when they have a 'special sale'.

Just perhaps they want to get it completely right before testing it on the paying customers ?

But then again, what would I know - my office is embarking on a totally electronic system for record keeping (no paper) and I think its crap, faulty, inefficient, time consuming, a liability, -- and the people who decided to install it have moved on.

FWIW, Jetstar is moving from Open Skies to New Skies. New Skies is more than an upgrade from Open Skies, it is a complete new platform.

Open Skies runs on an HP3000 (running HP OS and database) which has reached end of life. New Skies was developed on a 64 bit Microsoft archtecture.

Migration is obviously a sizeable task!

I have been effected by this over the last three or so weeks.

They have been running manual check-in for a while and I have been caught twice in Cairns and once in Brisbane. In addition done of my SC's or points have come through on any Jetstar flights in the last three weeks - hence I am chasing them up manually.

Deliberately vague ...

Wife in QP today to check-in for JQ flight. Staff quite perplexed ... not sure how to get in to "the new system" took about 10mins and two staff members to get sorted.

Do QF train their ground staff? (Remembering the first time I presented an OLCI BP and having to explain Gate Staff what it was)
