If you are departing on a QF flight, there is a lounge at Gate 1 in Terminal 4

There is a chance that they may let you in, but I would not be expecting admission in MEL

I just rang MEL INT lounge - the number is +61 3 8336 4294 - and they said that lounge access in MEL is fine if leaving MEL in Y, as long as the HKG-LHR in J is the same day.

And we have a similar report at another FF forum, that a non OWE was able to get SYD F lounge access (when travelling J) due to their F turnaround return flight.

So, liberal and good translations of the rules do occur sometimes!
