QF or BA F LHR-BKK ???

I don't want to cross/post so I am posting in the QF Forum only. Looking for unbiased opinions on which you would take from LHR-BKK in F. Both flights leave within 15 minutes of each other around 9:30 pm. Food, wine, IFE and service are more important to me than the seat as a bed, I generally do not recline the seat all the way into a bed. Interested in your thoughts.

There was a lot of discussion about the pros and cons on the LHR-HKG route. Maybe have a look, because most of it applies to LHR-BKK as well.

LHR to HKG which Airline in F

If crediting to AA, don't forget to use the QF code regardless of whether you take QF or BA metal to ensure you get your bonus miles.

FWIW, I would take QF on this route as you will get the QF London crew who are generally very good. Added to this, there is less curvature around the feet section of the QF F seat and also catering tends to be better on QF than BA. That said, QF only beats BA by a hair so there is not really much in it.

BA has the better cabin ambiance but otherwise QF is a bit more than a hair ahead. IFE is about twice as good as BA's (which is very dated and doesn't have the great programming QF now offers). Food quality goes in cycles, BA is greatly improved from its lows but QF seems to be well ahead still (even without the famed steak sandwich, which isn't offered ex-LHR). Wine is a big win for QF, who seem to have double the wine budget per F pax compared to BA these days. Service is the wild card as QF is more erratic (even now), but LHR-BKK and LHR-SIN are generally thought to have the best service, so it might be comparable to BA. Overall a solid win for QF, rather than a hair (it is in J that QF wins by a hair).

Thanks, thread LHR-HKG really not applicable because it is not the same route and there are additional carriers in that market. Most of the discussion was focused on CX (not BA or QF), but thanks for your reply any way.

Excellent, this was the feedback I was looking for and decided to go with QF. Many thanks.

The posts above are spot on. There is a negligible difference between BA and QF F, but I personally prefer QF. YMMV.

As you said, the CX thread, in which I posted as well, is most irrelevant, unless connecting in HK is a possibility. Even if it were, probably not worth it.

I travel BA F a lot. I have recently done LHR-BKK on QF, and based on that experience I can tell you, without any doubt, that QF is now far superior. QF appears to have stepped up a gear in the last 18 months in F. The bed they construct for you is fantastic, including a 2-3 inch thick mattress thing, proper duvet and two pillows. It makes BA's offering look very meagre altogether.

I used to think they were on a par, but have had my eyes opened with my last flight. Well done QF.
