QF11 SYD-LAX (Arr 09:50) is planned to be an A380. I believe it turns around and then will do QF94 LAX-MEL (dep 23:15)

Qantas now have 3 A380's, so there could be more at LAX.

Could be, but unlikely in the near future as only QF11/12 & QF93/94 have been scheduled for the beasts to LAX. (Although there is the QF73/74 special on a Wednesday in the next week or two to/from SFO)

The advent of the third one is being utilized the enable the 388 to be scheduled for the Kangaroo route.

Saturday, as in Jan 3rd?
If so, I'd say no as I'm lead to believe both Qantas A380s are in Los Angeles (today) Jan 2nd and will be flying out the same night I'm sorry to say.

Although I am happy to stand corrected.

VH-OQA, OQB and OQC have all been delivered to Qantas.

I'm sure that OQA was in Sydney Intl airport this morning (~7am), and I've heard that OQB was also at Sydney Intl airport this afternoon.

So not sure where the planes are at the moment, but the timetable has an A380 arriving/departing as per my post above. Whether that flight gets changed to another plane is yet to be seen.

As Aus_Mal has pointed out, QF11 SYD-LAX on Sat 3rd, and QF 94 LAX-MEL on Sat 3rd are currently scheduled to be A388 ops, and presumably these will be the same A388. This suggests that there will be one there on Saturday.

Perhaps it is OQC operating this?

I believe OQA is operating MEL-LAX (QF93) and OQB is operating SYD-LAX (QF11) as we speak.

VH-OQA departed this afternoon QF93 MEL-LAX @ ~1:30pm
VH-OQB departed this afternoon QF11 SYD-LAX @ ~4pm.

So both of these will be due to arrive in LAX Friday early (LAX time), and I assume will leave Friday night as QF12 (LAX-SYD) and QF94 (LAX-MEL).

So, depending on what OJC is up to, that sounds like the likely plane for tomorrow's MEL-LAX (Assuming it is around, and isn't somewhere else at the moment). If unavailable, then they will have to sub a 747 onto the route.

QF 11 and 93 have both arrived at LAX this morning (Friday) Los Angeles time. They will both parked at the old TWA ramp until tonight for their return to Australia.

The Qantas website lists flight 11 on Saturday and Sunday as an A380. So it looks like there will be one at LAX tomorrow. Saturdays flight must be the third aircraft delivered.

I just checked my flight back on Saturday (QF94 from LAX) and it's been changed to an A380. As much as I was hoping for an upgrade on a 747, I'm looking forward to flying the A380 again.. *fingers crossed for an upgrade*

Hmmm.. that is surprising - I did believe Qantas did not yet have enough 380 crew available as yet - although this was not far off ...

OQC has been conducting various tests over the week since its arrival.
Engine tests have been taking place during the last few days, including as recent as 7am (local time) this morning.

So if there is indeed enough trained cabin crew and if the aircraft is all tested and ready to go, there is now a good chance LAX will see an A380 on Saturday.

Hopefully for those in LA, the weather will be better tomorrow then it was today if the A380 does make an apperance!

I believe VH-OQC is currently parked at gate 9 at Sydney and with QF 11 due to depart in just over an hour's time, it does look promising.

Ouch. Although, I have seen A380s delayed for a lost laptop (~30 mins) and late incoming aircraft etc - so nothing surprises me.
