LAX TBIT OW lounge full - sent to SkyTeam instead

Just a quick note that the OW lounge is chockers tonight, people on the floor. Obviously quite a few flights go out within a few hours, but I didn't realise the new lounge is suffering overcrowding.

They are now redirecting lounge-seekers to the SkyTeam lounge down near gate 107. This was a little confusing as the CX girl on the lounge entrance didn't actually say SkyTeam, she just said gate 107 - so there was a steady stream of people going back and forth trying to find where they should go. Even F and J pax were sent down here. There is a QF staffer on the Skyteam lounge entrance and they are making boarding calls.

The lounge isn't great but at least it has seats, it appears to be run by Korea Air. Some un-appealling cold sandwiches and fruit. Bud and some Korean beer. The usual other bits and pieces. No showers that I can see.

Maybe due to the increased A380 capacity?

I was there on 10/27 and it was ridiculous how full it was (F side). Packed, warm, stressful and chaotic. Anything but peaceful and serene.

The lounge is small anyway. With QF switching Terminal 4 and TBIT around this is going to be like this from now on.
I guess OW needs to come up with a new plan because the lounge is just not big enough.

Probably to do with the fact that QF switched the SYD flights along with the MEL flight to TBIT, and switched the AKL and the BNE flight to T4. So there's more flights departing out of TBIT, and yes, every other day, one of them is a 380, which also doesn't help.

Last Thursday week I was in T4 lounge and it was not overcrowded but I had to survive on cold beer and carrot sticks

All of which was perfectly foreseeable when the new lounge was being built.

I have to say I was rather suprized at the size of the TBIT lounge when I first went there.
Not much bigger then the T4 first lounge...
Given that it has to deal with CX, QF and the other OW pax I wondered if there was some additional level I was not able to find.
Weird given the huge hubbub that was made when it opened...
I suppose when it was compared to the old lounge....

And there is a problem there?

Actually, I am surprised they serve beer there - I thought it was mainly soft drinks, like Coke~ and Budweiser.

I wasn't aware the T4 club had any beer on draft?

Wow, glad we're in Brisbane now.
Used to do all our flights LAX-SYD to visit my family, but now we are in BNE will stick to BNE-LAX-BNE and the T4 lounge when we visit her family.

Other big problem I found with the TBIT lounge (on 25/10) was excruciatingly slow Internet, both on the fixed terminals and the oneworld wifi login
- eg. Qantas homepage took 10 secs, SMH 25 secs, Corporate VPN unusable.
(significantly slower than SIN which is also generally fairly slow)

Luckily I had a 24-hr T-Mobile card from the ORD AA Flagship lounge, so I used this instead via Wifi and it was significantly better.

Has anyone else seen these speed issues??

Yes it was slow to the point of being un-useable the other day.
